They are both healthy and both have been neutered. Luca is getting to be a bit overweight and is reluctant to go on walks these days. Normally both are very well-behaved and obedient - they love getting outside into the garden. Our cat also enjoys being
Someone who enjoys peace and quiet, being in the midst of nature. Our house is a rustic retreat set in rambling gardens, so it really will suit someone who likes a sense of history and place. And obviously someone who enjoys being with our pets. Both our dogs are both gentle and well-behaved and Archie does love going on long playful walks. (Luca is older now and prefers to stay at home). The cat enjoys the company of both of them and sometimes will snuggle up against them in the evening. The chickens just need let our in the morning, to be fed and watered, and put back into the henhouse at night. They normally put themselves to bed at about 9pm but the door needs to be locked to keep out the fox.
Basically the main responsibilities will be to ensure the dogs and cat and chickens are well cared for.
The dogs and cat have got used to sleeping in the house (so they know to wait until they are outside to go to the toilet!)
They need to be fed, given water and Archie needs to be given a walk each day - Luca now is reluctant to go but Archie loves it!
We have a stream running at the bottom of the garden and a lovely set of fields and woodlands just beyond the bridge that crosses it at the bottom corner. We are located in beautiful countryside (3.5 kms from local shops / rail station / Dordogne river) and a 4 km walk to one of the local châteaux on a nearby hill. Bergerac is a sizeable town about 15 km away and there is a small local 'international' airport there. Our garden is full of flowers, fruit trees, berry bushes and birdsong. Our neighbours are friendly and helpful.
We need someone who can make a firm commitment to being with the animals for the full time and who is prepared for a more rustic country setting for their stay with the pets.
No, sorry.
Testimonials
Fantastic house, adorable animals and lovely hosts
I had a great time looking after this wonderful house in Dordogne. The animals were all adorable and I quickly bonded with all of them. Maurice and Tony could not have been more friendly and welcoming, even sorting out a bike for me so I could pootle around the beautiful countryside. I would go back in a heartbeat.
