About this assignment
My family and I are going on a cruise over Thanksgiving this year. Looking for a sitter for the entire week and both weekends.
What responsibilities are required of the house sitter
Responsible for our 3 fur babies, taking in the mail and any other typical type housesitting stuff. It's a pretty easy gig, to be honest. If we can arrive home and our house not be destroyed and our dogs alive, we are good.
What are the good features of the property and location
Living in Cordova, TN, which is a suburb of Memphis, we are within 25 minutes of pretty much anywhere you would want to go or see, such as Graceland, Beale Street, Sun Studio and Traxx Museums. Especially if you're into music history, there's really no better place to be.
There are also countless BBQ restaurants to try and determine your favorite.
Our home is about 3000 sq.ft with a huge fenced in yard. When walks aren't possible, the dogs are happy to just run around in the yard. If it's nice out and you aren't using the A/C, leaving the backdoor open for them to go in and out as they please works great. You must be home to leave the backdoor open.
Our neighborhood is very safe, has a neighborhood lake(not really meant for swimming) and is very close(within a few miles) of a huge park/lake we sometimes take the dogs to. A walk around the lake is almost 2.5 miles and there is miles of other waking trails and acres of park, including a dog park you can enjoy with or without the dogs if that's your thing. If it happens to rain while here, the dogs may or may not try to dig out under the fence if the ground is soft. So, keeping an eye on them is important. If they do happen to escape, they always come back. Bella comes back within minutes, Gryffin within a half hour or so and Tonks, whenever she damn well feels like it. LOL!! Leaving the garage open for them is encouraged.
What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment
Before applying for this sit, please be sure you can actually do it for the dates we need. We can't afford to have any last minute changes or cancellations. Other than that, just don't be an axe murderer or criminal. Not that we have anything worth taking, other than the dogs. LOL!
Tentatively, We would like to head out on Saturday morning 11/21/26. We are driving to Miami to get on the ship on 11/23/26. We get back into port on 11/27 and expect to be home late in the evening on 11/28. If you'd like to arrive the day before, we are happy to host you. This will allow for an easier transition when we leave, as well as an opportunity to get to know us and the dogs before we leave. We are happy to cook dinner for you. If you happen to NOT be able to arrive before we are scheduled to leave, although not ideal, our son lives locally and can deal with the dogs until you arrive and meet you upon your arrival. We would however prefer you stay until we return, as our son is not readily available.
Our home is lived in. Meaning, while we are not dirty people, we do have 3 dogs and aren't especially on top of keeping the house spotless. The house will be reasonably clean when you arrive.

Dog sitting in Memphis, TN
Ken lives with his wife, daughter and two dogs in a lovely, quiet suburb of Memphis. Shopping for pretty much anything you need is a short drive from the house. The dogs, Bella and Griff were sweet, loving and amusing to watch as they played with each other. When she gets excited, Bella has a big smile on her face which made me laugh. Griff loves having his shoulders massaged. It was pretty hot while I was there so I spent all day indoors in the a/c enjoying the company of the pups. They have a large, fenced-in yard in which to play but even they didn’t stay outside for long, preferring to sit by me on the sofa watching tv. When the sun went down we took nightly walks around the neighborhood. I arrived the night before the family left on vacation so that I could get to know the dogs and find out what was expected of me during my stay. Ken is a very interesting, talented and friendly guy and I really enjoyed talking with him and watching him work on his artistic projects. I stayed until the family returned from their vacation and enjoyed watching the re-union of dogs and people. These pups are very well loved by the whole family and now, by me.
