About this assignment
Hi,
Looking for someone who has good experience with cats. We’ve only recently moved into this house and it’s still all a bit new and different for them.
I have 2 cats and a fish tank. The older cat is very independent but also really friendly and loves company. The younger one is just a baby, very cuddly and a bit needy (!) hence I'm keen for a live-in house sitter for the odd occasion I have to be away.
What responsibilities are required of the house sitter
Just to make sure the cats and fish are fed and well looked after and that the cats get some love and attention.
Also litter tray cleaned, plants watered and bins emptied (if there on the relavant day)
What are the good features of the property and location
The house is big and old and full of character. It’s a lovely rural setting but also on the edge of a reasonable size town with all the facilities you might need.
Great walking right from the front door and the coast just 15 mins drive away.
What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment
I will be at home the night of the 17th to do a handover but will leaving very early morning of 18th.
The house is old and dated but all in full working order.
Own car is preferable because transport links aren’t great, although not impossible.
Can I bring my own pets?

The Cotswolds at its best
Looking after Vanessa's cats was truly very easy. The youngest one, Olive, was very playful and affectionate. Her sheen was enviable. She even reached a milestone on the last day of my stay. Her first mouse was proudly brought into the house for my admiration.The older cat, Sabu, was hardly ever there. So very low maintenace sit. Vanessa's instructions were very clear and uncomplicated. The house is very easy to run and has all mod cons. Being back in Woodstock was wonderful. Vanessa was very helpful in preparing a sort of tourist pack. Unfortunately, I was working online during my stay and so could only use the opportunity on a limited basis. For anyone wishing to visit the Cotswolds, this would be the perfect catsit. A bus 100 metres from the house takes you into Oxford City.

It was a wonderful stay
Vanessa is a warm and open-minded host. Talking to her was a real treat. Her house and garden leave nothing to be desired: she’s thought of everything, and I felt at home from the very first moment. Sabu the cat is a real beauty – big, laid-back and completely calm. He comes and goes entirely at his own pace, which worked perfectly thanks to the cat flap. However, whenever he spotted me through the window, he let me know and waited patiently by the door. Most of the time, though, he was off exploring or relaxing in the garden. The young kitten Olive is quite different. Lively, playful, curious and wonderfully cuddly. Many a night she purred under the duvet. A little shadow that followed me everywhere. That never bothered me, as she was very discreet about it. During the day, she could spend hours watching the birds outside the window. A real treat. It was a wonderful stay, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I’d love to come back.

A joyful stay with Sabu, Olive, and their wonderful owner
I had a wonderful time pet and house sitting for Vanessa and am grateful for the trust she placed in me to care for her beloved pets and beautiful home. Looking after Sabu, a gentle, calm, and majestic cat, and Olive, a tiny, playful kitten, was an absolute joy. Olive’s energy and curiosity brought so much fun, while our quiet cuddle moments were just as special. It was lovely to observe the bond between them — Olive clearly adores her big brother, even if Sabu sometimes finds her enthusiasm a bit too much. Caring for the fish tank was also a highlight, especially as two of the fish had babies during my stay — a fascinating thing to witness. Vanessa was a wonderful host who made me feel very welcome, and the location offered beautiful walks nearby and Oxford just a short bus ride away. I must admit I’m a little jealous of Vanessa — and of anyone lucky enough to care for the cats in the future — who will get to watch the beautiful bond between Sabu and Olive grow even stronger. :-)

Great House/Cat Sit
Vanessa gave good instructions and her flat was lovely with a nice conservatory and garden. The kitty, Sabu was sweet and fun and we miss him. We enjoyed Woodstock immensely with Blenheim Palace and grounds at our doorstep. The town itself has all amenities you need and is a 30 minute bus ride from Oxford. We highly recommend this housesit.
