Just make sure there is always water available for the free birds in the backyard
A responsible person or couple who do not only have skills in maintaining an old house but also have the curiosity and knowledge to repair things with our on-line advice and guidance if this need would occur. A person that has the skills to maintain a wild front and backyard. Understanding that daily keeping the front and backyard and roofterrace alive and clean, giving water to the plants can add to your peace and joy from the day.
The house:
Keeping the inside of the house so it stays a nice place to live in. Realizing it is an old house that asks for some attention and care, e.g. when opening and closing windows and inside doors ( not at the same time)
The yards:
Keeping the outside of the house clean and free of fallen leaves, including the sidewalk in front of the house.
Making sure the branches of the trees in the frontyard will not damage any air cables or parked cars. Prevention might mean cutting branches, after having our permission. Tell us more about your prune experiences. (Please mention this in your request).
Keeping our plants alive in this climate might be more challenging then in your hometown, that is why we ask you to have some knowledge here. (Please mention this in your request) We also have a composting place, so experience with composting in an urban setting is recommended. (Please mention this in your request)
The roof:
Making sure that all the outside furniture is inside and all the rainwatercollectors on the roof and yards are free of leaves when Rain is in the forecast ( not soo often, but still important). It does not rain often, but when it does buckets fall out of the sky. If water might come in the house ( it does average 1 time a year with a real heavy rainfall ) dry and clean the interior patio as soon as possible.
Keep the solarwatercollectors clean and funtioning for your hot water. We have a chart to fill in daily on a shared excell-map, to follow up the evolution of the temperatures. We like you to be widely available in the eventuality of a technical need,, which may need from you some handy skill, with our online guidance of course.
About the birds, it are not birds in a cage, but free birds that come in our backyard/frontyard knowing there is water available for them to drink an wash and splash. Water is precious here, and the little rivers nearby only have water after a rain and for a short time.
We do collect as much as water as we can to reuse for the plants, especially in dry season. Water from the kitchen goes into an outside bucket, for it to be emptied in the frontyard, meaning e.g. no salt water can be put into the sink.
We ask for a handyman who can do all of this without effort, although it asks some changes in habits. (Please mention this in your request)
On a weekly zoom call we will go through the health of the house, the plants and the neighbourhood and talk about any adjustments or things needing repair. This requires a good sense of communication skills.
Put the password’water’ in your request.
It is in a quiet neighbourhood of a beautiful city.
It is a big house and we are renovating it and preparing it for a communal living experience. On the groundfloor a big kitchen, living space, bathroom, two seperate toilets and a sleeping room are already finished. On the first floor we have renovated another bathroom and four sleeping rooms. The rest of the first floor is perfectly usable, but not yet newly painted and still without roofinsulation. But still, the four sleeping rooms, a study/dining room with the pelletstove and another yoga/meditation room are also used by us, but will get refreshed in the coming year(s).
It is walking distance from a nice beacharea near the lighthouse ( all year round the beach is a pleasant place to be)
Organic food shop is around the corner with very good bargains
Nice restaurants also
The neighbourhood touches a hill with trees, a nice area to walk around and gives also acces to daywalkingtrips in the hinterland. Very nice in wintemonths when the sun is not too strong in daytime.
You should like to live in a city in a rural way. It is quiet and we have a lot of outside spaces,
Anyway nights are very very quiet and in the morning birds will be there with their curiosity.
You need to have experience in being a handyman, knowing how to fix things and with the right, available tools. We have no outside technical people to help you with this. But you can be our hands if we guide you on-line if necessary. Please give us your experiences by applying.
About the internet connection. It is a 4G cableless connection with an amount of 60GB/month, but 40 GB can be added for 10€ as often as needed. I use it for zoom-calls and look at video's etc. Sometimes, when it is very cloudy and around sunset it might be stubburn for about half an hour. Then I go to make myself a cup of tea and look at that sunset. But now when I write it I must admit it has already been a long time I had to do that. So I do not think it is something to be upset about.
In the house we do not have a television, for the simple reason we never had one. Just for you to know to bring your own devices.
No, sorry.

The perfect little oasis in Malaga
I had the fortune to housesit for Albert and Kristopher. Their house is simply magical. The location is great(close to the old town, to the castle, and not too far from the beach). They both did a wonderful job renovating an old house by adding modern amenities and yet keeping the original charm. Having so much green around the house while still so close to the old town was a pure luxury. The management of the house was fairly easy and on the few occasions when I was unsure what to do both Albert and Kristopher were extremely helpful and provided step-by-step guidelines on how to fix some minor issues. They thought of everything that could go wrong and secured potential issues to ensure I would have a pleasant and problem-free stay. I enjoyed my evenings on the beautiful roof with the breathtaking views over Gibralfaro and the morning bird serenades. With no doubt, I would sit for them again. Can not recommend it enough!!! Thank you

Wonderful time in Malaga
We were warmly welcomed with a delicious meal. Our hosts were very friendly to us. The house is impressive: an old villa with a great atmosphere just a few steps from the historic old town. It has been lovingly and stylishly restored. The roof terrace was the absolute highlight, with a cozy arbor and a wonderful view of Gibralfaro. The weekly contact via zoom call was perfect. Thank you for entrusting us with this gem. We really enjoyed the time ... and we'd love to come back :-) All the best and best regards Annemarie and Marion
