About this assignment
We seek people who can preferably do a longer sit - preferably two months or longer. Sweden is now warm enough for a sauna and a dip in the lake - for vikings anyway - and al fresco dining.
We seek a relaxed easy going couple who like nature, and who would be ok with some of us in the family occasionally coming for a few days to fetch or organise something.
What responsibilities are required of the house sitter
Really just surveying that the Highland cow and her two young ones and the old horse are ok.
The 36 year old horse gets a daily pail of "porridge" - a "brick" of condensed grains to dissolve in water.
What are the good features of the property and location
The farm sits on 8 ha of grazing land, backed by forest to the north and lake on the other three sides. We have two canoes, a motor boat, sauna by the lake, large home cinema, fully equipped kitchen, and high speed fibre optic Internet.
What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment
It's a cool nordic climate. Summer can have warm and cool spells.
We're 14 km from the nearest supermarket and small town, an hour from a larger town with cinemas, malls, restaurants etc, and three hours drive from Copenhagen, which also has the nearest airport. We can drop and pick up at the station about 40 mins away.
We can normally provide a car for you, but prefer if you bring your own.

This house is in our hearts. With abundant nature, lots of beauty, privacy and comfort, one could imagine that it comes with a long list of do's and dont's, tasks and requests. But this wasn't the case. Our daily chores were to look out for the cows, plants and fairys, scratch the horse when she felt like it, swim, sit on a rock and enjoy the moon at night. The generosity, kindness and easygoing ways of the owners are special, we are grateful to have been in this magical place. We went home feeling relaxed and inspired. We wish for only the most respectful, kind, appreciative housesitters for this place.

A Swedish country paradise
The Salto house is such a wonderland. The Salto family are truly a pleasure. Very kind and down to earth people. We had the pleasure of spending a little time together on the farm repairing fences, doing odd jobs and sitting down to dinner together during the hand over period for the property. The property is like something from a movie, literally it was in a few movies. The animals are easy to get along with, the canoes are relaxing and the house has such a Swedish cowboy feel to it it's easy to forget the modern world is just down the road through the forest. I'm a garden person and I've never seen some of the beautiful flower types that pop up here and there. The homeowners communicate well and respond to any and everything a house sitter may need help with or be concerned about. You will be in good hands here so return the favor by being a good sitter.
