We are looking for a reliable, experienced, caring house-sitter who loves animals including dogs and horses and must be able to drive. You can use our little Kia for local journeys if you do not have a car. Some spoken Spanish would be a help.
We have 2 lurchers, 3 outdoor cats (in a barn) and 6 chickens (in the orchard) which you will feed every morning and evening and lock up the hens at night. The dogs like a good run in the morning in the countryside and a shorter walk in the evening through our woods but in-between tend to relax in the shade. You can use our house, garden, pool, fields and woods but will need to keep the house tidy and water the pots regularly. We also have 4 horses and 2 goats at a nearby property which you will need to feed at weekends only. We have a gardener/handyman who comes in 3 times a week and will look after the property and sort out any problems you may have.
We live in a very comfortable house with a pool and garden. There are pretty areas where you can sit out and enjoy the spectacular views. You can walk or drive into our local town where there are bars, restaurants and historic sites. We are 40 minutes drive from the beaches of the Costa del Sol and 90 minutes from the Atlantic Coast. We have fantastic hiking and live next door to a national park. You will have lots of support looking after the property.
You need to be fit as you need to give the dogs enough exercise in the morning and evenings and we live on a steep hill. You should also be able to cope with the unexpected because there are often surprises living in the Spanish countryside - power cuts, for example.
No, sorry.

Country sit in stunning surroundings
I had the opportunity to care for this beautiful finca in Cádiz for one month. It was a rewarding experience. The property is in a stunning location—perched on a hill with expansive views and just a short drive from Jimena de la Frontera (it’s important to note that a car is essential, especially as there are two properties involved in the sit). During my stay, I cared daily for three outdoor cats and six hens, the latter were securely locked in at night and out again each morning. On weekends, I also took care of two goats and four beautiful horses at the second property, about six minutes drive away. The horses were a significant responsibility, and are creatures of absolute routine - and by far my favourite part of the sit. I loved being around them and found the time spent grooming, feeding, and walking them to and from the fields both grounding and rewarding. The routine—bringing them in from the field, removing coats and headpieces, grooming, checking for ticks, and feeding from their different food bins—was well organised. Communication with the owner was minimal and not really necessary as the written instructions provided were clear and helped establish a smooth routine from the beginning. In addition, I felt very supported by two excellent employees: one who worked at the home several frequently and was always helpful, and another who cared for the animals at the second property during the week and offered great guidance, particularly around the horses. This sit would suit someone confident with larger animals, comfortable working independently across two rural locations, and who truly enjoys being hands-on with horses. It was a special and fulfilling experience in beautiful surroundings, and I appreciated the trust placed in me to care for the animals and properties.

Wonderful house and animals in a very beautiful place in Andalusia
The house is great with a beautiful location on top of a hill with great views of the village castle and the valley. The hosts are wonderful people, kind, they made us feel good. This was our first official arrangement as pet sitters and we were worried about some things. But everything was perfect. The organization of Caroline and John, the house, the animals. I've lived with a lot of dogs and I'm a fan, but these are the best I've ever met. Smart and obedient. They do not create any problems. We love walks, so we took them on long ones every day. There is a very beautiful path by the river. I am riding and I was very happy to live with and ride the horses. We had great rides with dogs and horses. Also, you can ride with the neighbors if you do not want to go out alone. I would say that we had a wonderful time at the mansion and with our hosts. I still miss the time and the animals there. Very thankful for the opportunity

Fantastic house sit near one of the Pueblos Blancos. Gorgeous setting
We love house sitting for Caroline; it is probably our favorite. It is a very lovely villa positioned on top of a hill with a gorgeous sunset view. Bring your binoculars to watch the eagles soar over the house. The location is near one of the Pueblos Blancos, a little far from a large town but the village has what you need. The house is comfortable. Caroline is a great communicator. There were several English speaking neighbors and Caroline’s employees to help with any issues. The dogs will keep you busy; they need long walks. There are several within a 10 minute drive and some from the house. The horses need caring, but you will have help. Expect eggs from the chickens in exchange for very little effort. This is a great house sit for some fit folks that want to hike and chill.
