About this assignment
Looking for a respectful, responsible house sitter to care for my home and two cats in the heart of Little Portugal, one of Toronto's best neighbourhoods. The apartment comes with a backyard.
About the cats: They're indoor/outdoor and very social. They get lonely easily, so I need someone who'll genuinely be present, not just popping in to feed them.
What I'm looking for:
Home for at least part of each day (cats need company!)
Ideally home at night
Clean, tidy, and respectful of the space
Quiet, this is a peaceful home and I'd like it to stay that way
Comfortable with both indoor/outdoor cat care (litter, feeding, outdoor access, etc.)
What responsibilities are required of the house sitter
Keep the apartment clean
Water the garden every morning or evening
Keep the cats alive and loved
Let the cats inside/outside (they are mostly outdoor cats)
About the cats-
Black cat: Shy at first, but once he gets to know you, he loves to cuddle and be around people.
White cat: A free roamer. He'll leave for 24–48 hours at a time and just come back to eat and sleep. He's great with people when he's around; he just loves to explore.
What are the good features of the property and location
Located in Little Portugal, one of Toronto's most desirable neighbourhoods
Direct access to major highways and transit (subway and streetcars)
Central location, walking distance to tons of great coffee shops and restaurants as well as a 4 min walk to one of the best grocery stores in Toronto (Mike's No Frills)
Lower-level, walk-out basement unit with a private backyard
New renovation as of 2020 — bright and spacious, with big front windows and tons of natural light
Fully equipped with washer/dryer, dishwasher, high-speed WiFi, and TV
What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment
The cats are outdoor cats, but they still need to come inside during the day to sleep, eat, or get cuddles, so you'll need to be around to let them in regularly.
My neighbours are very respectful, and I'd expect the same in return — please be mindful of noise and shared spaces

Great Owner, Apartment and Cats in Toronto
We just completed our three-week house and cat sit in Toronto in Amy’s lovely basement apartment, and we couldn’t be happier. It was recently renovated and has all the conveniences including a lovely garden just up the steps. The neighbors were quiet and we slept very well in air-conditioned comfort. Flash and Nano the male cats were real charmers, spending most of their time outdoors (including hunting mice!), so there was virtually no litter box duty; and they were very affectionate when indoors. Amy spent an afternoon with us showing us everything we needed to know about her place and neighborhood and was readily available by chat whenever a question came up. The location is very convenient to buses, streetcars, subway and trains, and we used them all to thoroughly explore beautiful Toronto. We would highly recommend Amy, Flash and Nano to anyone interested in a comfortable and convenient base for visiting this part of Canada, and we’d be happy to return to see them all again!
