About this assignment
We are looking for an active and capable couple to house and dog sit during the time we are away on holidays. Ideally we would like to find couples who would be interested in becoming “regular” sitters.
The house sits on its own private 3 acre plot on a private driveway in a rural village. We have just 2 neighbours with whom we share the communal driveway. It is a period property steeped in history but which has been modernised to a very high standard.
We are looking for a couple who are happy looking after a small sensitive dog who loves cuddles and does not like being left alone. She enjoys 2 walks a day around the village and the surrounding countryside. She is fed twice a day and not on any medication. Easy to look after but does have separation anxiety so we are looking for a couple with a quiet, calm and caring disposition who are happy to spend a lot of time with her.
What responsibilities are required of the house sitter
Lots of love and attention to our gorgeous dog, with 2 walks a day. Feeding twice a day. Keeping the house clean and tidy and depending on what time of year you are here, watering of plants in the greenhouse.
We will wish to video call with potential candidates during the selection process during which time please feel free to ask questions.
What are the good features of the property and location
Close to Rutland Water, this is an extremely friendly part of the country. Living in a village, everyone knows one another and its friendly village. The area is fascinating with amazing landscapes. If you enjoy walking; painting; reading, this is the ideal location for you. Plenty of local village pubs.
You will have a bedroom with a king sized bed and an en-suite bathroom. The house has excellent fibre WiFi and Sky TV, along with all the usual modern conveniences of a much loved, modernised home.
What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment
The perfect couple will receive a full handover to ensure you are familiar with the house and the dog’s routine.
As this is a village location, a car is essential but not provided. Th nearest town is a 15 minute drive away.
The local dog walks are directly from the house.

Beautiful housesit - tranquil oasis with stunning views
What a great house sit this was. Firstly the location of the house was fantastic. High atop a hill we felt like the king and queen of the castle. The views were stunning, stretching for miles across the rolling rural landscape, with several small towns sitting on the hilltops, which were fun to explore. Sunrises and sunsets were amazing. The house was modern, comfortable and well equipped. Oh, and the pool, terrace and patio were the perfect place to relax after doing our chores, checking on the hens, tending the vegetable garden and ensuring the water was topped up and pool cleaned. Esther and Richard were a great couple, eager to explain the operation clearly. They showed us all the local haunts for grocery shopping, restaurants, services and were always on hand via text or phone if we had questions. They were very responsive, helpful and clear when we had a few minor questions. A fun couple to hang out with and friends for life. This is a great housesit if you want to emerse yourself in the local culture, enjoy gardening, like privacy and tranquility, and love the outdoors. Problem solving skills, handyman skills and a love of nature and nurture will ensure that your housesit is enjoyable and purposeful. Will definitely return.
