About this assignment

We are looking for a person to water our outdoor pollinator plants from August 1 to September 1, 2026. This person will be staying in our home in Inman Park, Atlanta, while we are away. We are a Way Station for Monarch Butterflies and last year we saw 35 Monarchs emerge from their chrysalises, We need someone to water our milkweed and other plants every day as well as our indoor plants.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Other responsibilities are light: take out garbage and recycling once a week and water the indoor plants as needed as well as the flower window boxes on the porches

What are the good features of the property and location

We live in a three-bedroom house in the historic residential neighborhood of Inman Park, a mile or so away from mid-town Atlanta. There are two good coffee houses within a couple of blocks from our home and a number of good restaurants nearby. We are a few blocks in either direction from Atlanta’s Beltline, where you can walk, run, bike, scooter or roller skate to neighborhoods around the city. In addition, we live about a mile from both the Martin Luther King National Historic Center and the Carter Center.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

We don’t own a car, so you will need to get around by other means. Many establishments are within walking distance from our house. There is good bus and train transportation throughout the city. Our house is a non-smoking house.

Can I bring my own pets?

Yes
Restrictions: a well behaved dog.

Testimonials

Excellent house sit opportunity awaits you.

I had the pleasure of sitting for Art and Judy in their lovely home in an excellent location in Atlanta. Their pups were as sweet and easy as could be. Watching them was pretty straightforward with walks, feeding, and cuddling the main 'events.' The dogs are mature and are able to be home long enough for you to get some great time out exploring this historic neighborhood. They are close to MLK National Park, Jimmy Carter Presidential Library and the Beltline. Walking to restaurants, bars and coffee houses is such a joy because of the wonderful architecture along every block. Most of all I found Judy and Art to be generous, warm and open minded people who are very laid back and even allowed me to have a few family members come for a few days to also enjoy the neighborhood. Oh, and a very nice saltwater pool is part of the deal. The house was clean and comfortable and I had everything I needed during my two week stay. I would sit for this family again and again. Highly recommend.
