About this assignment

We need an experienced and responsible single person or a couple who will need to have their own transport and are happy to live in the countryside but NOT remote. (5 Km from Cazorla)

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Maintain the running of the house and gardens (Minimal)
Looking after our two dogs and two cats all who come from an abandon past life.
Sasha, the Galgo (half greyhound, half mastin) 9 yrs old, very loving and spends most of the day with us in the home whilst sleeping in her own quarters outside at night.
Elsa, the Podenca, 7 yrs old, once again very loving but she can be very nervous. She lives and sleeps with us in the home.
Both dogs are the best of friends and love to run wild when taking walks in the surrounding olive groves.
Jimmy, the ginger/white cat was only a few weeks old when he appeared at our gate. Now 3 years old, he is very independent but also loves "lap" attention. He also enjoys to romp with Elsa and is very cute, mischievous and playful.
Whisky, the black and white cat (named after the "whisky"!!) also found us at a very young age, now about 3 years old. She is more needy than Jimmy, really loves a cuddle and loves her food.
The two cats have a great relationship and often charge around the house and garden together.

What are the good features of the property and location

Our property is a large Cortijo ( farmhouse) with magnificent views of the Sierra de Cazorla situated in the heart of the olive region of the Jaen Province which we have converted into 3 self-catering holiday apartments on the ground floor which will be closed off and we live on the first floor. We are 5 km from our nearest town, Cazorla.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

We would appreciate any sitter being with us at least 24 hours before we leave. Staying here until we return.
As mentioned, because we are in the country you will need to have your own independent transport.
Being rural Spain, the language is very much Spanish and an understanding of the language is advisable but not essential.

Can I bring my own pets?

Yes
Restrictions: Subject to a discussion.

Testimonials

That was perfect :-)

Diana and Roger are very nice hosts which prepared all instructions and pet food very well and clear. The dogs Sasha and Elsa and the cats Jimmy and Whisky were really cute and lovely and extremely easy to care for. The beautiful house is located in the countryside away from the town near the national park. As mentioned in the title: a perfect house sit :-)

Lovely house and pets in beautiful setting

I had the pleasure to spend a week at Diana & Rogers' house in the countryside, and very much enjoyed the company of thier dogs Elsa, Sasha & cats Whiskey & Jimmy. As I was able to visit them before my stay everything was well explained. Things are also very nicely set up for feeding and pet care. The dogs have an outside "run" where you can safely leave them if you go out, I felt very comfortable there and hope to sit for them both again. Thank you
