About this assignment

A clean, responsible person or couple who is respectful of my home and happy to spend time at my comfortable home in a village 30 minutes from Carcassonne. I would like updates and photos by text daily.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

The main responsibilities are tending to cat needs and maintaining the cleanliness of the home. Juno is 6 years old, healthy, and not demanding (except for food!). He is friendly to strangers and is affectionate (on his terms of course). He is very interesting and beautiful as you can see. He is allowed to go outside on demand, but he stays nearby and always comes home.

What are the good features of the property and location

My 100 sqm 3-level house is in a quaint village in the Minervois wine region. There are 2 bedrooms, each with double bed. One powder room on the 1st floor and one large bathroom with tub and shower on the 2nd floor. Reliable wifi, cosy living room with TV (no cable, just free streaming channels), and a well-equipped modern kitchen and dining room. A patio is accessible from the kitchen. Street parking very close to the house. There is a small epicerie in the village and a large supermarket 5 minutes by car. Many good walking and cycling paths nearby. A car is necessary to explore interesting and historic towns nearby, as there is no bus service. The surrounding towns are beautiful with gorgeous vistas of vineyards and interesting Cathar sites.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

The weather here is lovely in the summer and fall. Sunny and not much rain usually. You need to provide your own transportation. The residents of the village are French and ex-pats from various countries, and are very friendly and helpful. My house has a lot of stairs, with bedrooms and bathrooms on upper levels.

Can I bring my own pets?

No, sorry.

Lovely homeowner and adorable puss Junoo

We spent 2 weeks in Cheryl's beautifully kept home looking after Juno, a cat with much character. Juno is a confident cat and bonded quickly with us. Thank you Cheryl for trusting us with your Juno and your home. We really enjoyed our stay and it was a pleasure to meet you albeit for a short while.

Exploring the south of France

My husband and I are back a month already from our first ever international house sit , but our two-week stay at Cheryl's renovated medieval residence in the south of France will stay with us for a long while! Cheryl's residence is located in the countryside, in an area surrounded by vineyards and steeped in history. It is a quick drive (or bike ride) to several villages, where you can find all that you need. The region is full of market towns, medieval walled villages, castles, and the lazy Canal du Midi. So much beauty. So much to see and do -- and, oh the history! We had a great time exploring. Cheryl was super organized and welcomed us warmly. We arrived early so she could give us a good orientation to her home, our responsibilities, the neighboring villages, and so we could meet our main responsibility -- Juno. . Juno is a very independent cat, who spends much of her time exploring outside, but who always comes back to be fed. It took a little while, but Juno warmed up to us and was soon hovering close by and even sleeping with us. We highly recommend this region of France for a house sit, and Cheryl's place in particular. Thank you, Cheryl, for choosing us, for putting your trust in us, and for introducing us to your beautiful world.

Lovely stay with Juno in charming south of France

I stayed at Cheryl's place almost two weeks. It's a gorgeous apartment in an old chateau. Stone walls and floors, wonderful mild temperature, even if it's hot outside. The place is on the outskirts of a small town, but with a convenient supermarket within a walking distance. Also short walk to Canal Du Midi, where you can walk along the water, enjoying peace and quiet. Another small town nearby has a train station, from where you can go further to explore. Juno is a lovely cat. Very friendly, not exactly a cuddler, but he shows affection and likes to be close, purring with content. He's very easy to take care of, as he's going outside to do his business and also hunt (frequently bringing his prey home to boast ;) ). Cheryl gave me all the necessary information and also left written instructions just in case. I spent wonderful time with Juno. I would definitely come back :)

Lovely home and friendly cat by the Canal du Midi

We spent a very relaxing and enjoyable week looking after Juno in his castle domain near the Canal du Midi. Cheryl's apartment is very comfortable and has all the mod-cons we needed. We loved the gothic chateau setting, the gardens and sunny terrace. Juno is very independent, comes and goes, but likes to interact when he is home. Cheryl is easy-going and went out of her way to make our sojourn enjoyable. We would happily recommend this assignment.

A wonderful experience

I loved sitting for Cheryl and having the company of her sweet cat Juno. Cheryl’s home was beautiful, and she had taken time to write a concise list of things which needed to be attended during her absence. The Niagara Falls bus went right past her door, which made it very easy to get to shops and tourist attractions. I would sit for Cheryl any time. Thank you for having me Cheryl and Juno.
