House and petsitting (2 horses, 1 cat) in an old farmhouse in tuscany

About this assignment

I am looking for a animal loving person/couple who is very confident in handling horses and has experience in keeping them. i have 2 senior horses who enjoy their pension (they are not rideable any more). Baiana (34) has no major problem besides that she has nearly no teeth any more and needs therefor to be fed twice a day. Silva (25) has a big issue with arthrosis. At the moment she is quite ok but it happened that she had problems getting up. as we are in a very rural place and vets are not easy to get it would be great if you could be able to make her an intramuscular injection if needed(i can teach you that) . You should also be able to see if something is wrong with them in order to call me and /or the vet
morgana the cat (1 year) is easy to handle, loves to be cuddled but is also very independent and free to come and go whenever she wants.you should like having her around

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

feeding the horses twice a day , fill up water and hay, control them to see that everything is ok, clean the stable, ev putting flymasques on/off and clean the hooves. If there is any problem be able to see it and call me or a friend of mine.
The horses live in a big paddock with an open stable in an agriturismo nearby (reachable in 10 min by foot from my house). this takes you ca 2 h a day (1 h in the morning 1 h in the evening). the rest of the day you're free to do what you want.
feeding Morgana (the cat) morning and evening and give her some cuddles , ev. watering the garden and plants (if it's not raining)

What are the good features of the property and location

I live in an old tuscan farmhouse in a very little hamlet surrounded by woods and nature (see the foto).The house is renovated in a simple way (it's no luxury villa) but there are all the normal comodities (we have wifi internet,, dishwasher, washing machine,central heating with pellet ecc). It's quite big (3 sleepingrooms, 1big living kitchen with open fireplace, 2 bathrooms, 1 studio and a big garden outside.The surroundings are great for walking and moutain bike. in 30 min you can reach a nice river to swim,the sea is 90 km from here.
We are 17 km from Siena so nice historical places are not far away. It is a very rural setting (ca 3 km of dirt road to arrive) so you need a car. We have nice neighbours which are friends and they will help you out if any problem comes up

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

You have to be very confident with horses, see if they have some problem, know how to handle them and you should like to look for them.
the cat sleeps in the house (actually also in my bed) so you should enjoy their company
You should like quiet places (no bars, cinemas, shops ecc around) and nature.You should like to be part of a little comunity . You need a car (there is no public transport and no shops here) some knowledge of italian is appreciated (but not necessary).(our neighbourhood is quite international).
Pongo my dog is coming with us but their are still some neighbour dogs who show up and like to stay in my house
I want you to come 2/3 days before so we have all the time to explain you everything, introduce you to my neighbours and animals and show you around (i included this in my arrival date)

Can I bring my own pets?

Yes
Restrictions: you can bring your own dog as long as he is socialized with other dogs and has no problems with catsand of course cats
