He is the sweetest guy in the world! We got him from a rescue agency in our neighborhood 3 years ago. He took a while to totally settle in to domestic life, but he is fully blissed out at this point. He loves the lazy domestic cat life, and we love him!

About this assignment
My ideal house sitter adores cats, is quiet, respectful, and communicative, and leaves things as clean as they found them. They would also enjoy city living and exploring and would be able to take advantage of being so conveniently located to so much NYC has to offer! But mostly it’s all about loving my cat and keeping him company when we’re away. He’s a truly special guy and loves to cuddle!
What responsibilities are required of the house sitter
Feeding, playing with, and loving our sweet cat, Freddy (whom we also call Buddy). He is such a loving gentleman. :) Also watering our roof garden daily in the summer months (it's beautiful up there!) and the houseplants every couple of days, and taking down recycling and trash, as needed.
What are the good features of the property and location
Comfy, quiet, safe, convenient, beautiful roof view… Our place is a three minute walk to the express A train, which takes you to midtown Manhattan in 20 minutes. The neighborhood is safe, and has a very residential feel to it, while also having considerable choice in restaurants (Uptown Garrison, Le Cheile, Saggios, Tampopo Kitchen, Tampopo Ramen, and Kismat are favorites), parks (Ft Tryon is a must see) and even the Met Cloisters museum!
What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment
This is a very quiet building. My neighbors are very friendly and I know many of them after living here for over 15 years. My apartment is a great refuge after a long day wandering the city. It is best suited for one or two low-key people who are mindful of following co-op building rules, including quiet hours between 10pm and 8am. I think you will find your stay here very comfy and will fall in love with our special little Buddy!

We spent 3 lovely weeks in July at Julia’s and her daughter Ameena’s amazing flat in Washington Heights, Manhattan, a great neighborhood. Their beautiful home, which offers all amenities needed, is a peaceful place, comfortable and tastefully decorated with lots of love to the detail. The apartment was super clean and tidy upon our arrival, we felt at home right away. We received detailed informations and easy to follow instructions that were very helpful for us to take good care of their precious home & roof garden and their absolutely adorable male cat Freddy - a real personality! Freddy’s company brought us joy every minute, he is the sweetest and kindest being one can imagine - very special! We truly fell in love with him! He was a bit shy in the beginning, but once we won his trust, he really enjoyed to cuddle with us and be around us, at night he snuggled up in bed. Too cute! In addition to lovely Freddy the icing of the cake was Julia’s gorgeous rooftop garden and terrace, which offers beautiful views of the Washington Bridge and Manhattan’s Hudson River Side. Definitely worth mentioning is also the kindness and warmth of her friends and neighbors, which actually reflects the spirit of the whole city. We are very grateful for Julia’s and Ameena’s hospitality and Freddy’s loving company and would come back in a heartbeat.

Amazing time, sweet Fredy and lovely spot in NY!
I was happy to take care of Freddy in July 2024 for a week and it was super fun time. Freddy is quite shy but gets used to new friends after some time. I worked during the week and it was easy to set up my laptop in the living room. The neighborhood is friendly and has easy access to downtown NY. Julia is amazing and super helpful and she absolutely respect your privacy and time at her place. I had a chance to meet her shortly and I could't recommend more to stay at her place and help out with Freddy!

Lovely little cat and cozzy, quiet apartment.
Julia and Ameena were very kind and answered my questions on a timely manner. Freddy is a really sweet, calm kitty, always a bit shy, but playful after the first 24 hours. He interacts in soft, quiet manners, and spends quite a bit of time napping. The apartment is cozy and has a really nice table in front of a window, with plenty of light to work on. The whole building is quiet, and you cannot hear the traffic from outside at all. The terrace is lovely, with different "gardens" tended to by different neighbors. Great views of the Washington Bridge and the surrounding areas. Thanks, Julia, Ameena and Freddy, for having me.

Washington Heights Catsit
Spent a great week at Julia and Ameena's apartment taking care of sweet cat Freddy, who could not have been easier to care for. Uptown apartment, very close to the express train so getting around was easy. Interesting neighborhood that I had not explored before with lots of ethnic restaurants. And Julia was so understanding and helpful when I ran into an issue with the keys. Very grateful for her help. Thanks!

Lovely cat & Incredible place
My stay at Julia’s home was simply amazing. Communication with Julia was very easy, she was helpful and generous. Freddy, the cat, (I already miss him) was the loveliest pet I’ve ever met. He loves to be pet, to sleep on your lap and to follow you everywhere you go ! The flat is also pretty nice, well located, close to the A train, and the rooftop view is just mesmerising ! It was nice to have a little garden while being in New York City. Thanks again for everything !
