About this assignment
We’re seeking a person or couple who truly enjoy caring for cats and will look after our home with the same attentiveness we do. Our space is clean, peaceful, and well-kept — an ideal environment for both relaxing and providing thoughtful companionship to Miss Winnie. We’d love a sitter who values a calm atmosphere and takes pride in maintaining a tidy, welcoming home while ensuring that Winnie feels comfortable and well cared for.
What responsibilities are required of the house sitter
Winnie is a healthy, low-maintenance cat who mostly just enjoys having company around. She’s fed twice a day and occasionally likes to go in and out — she’ll be sure to let you know when. The litter box just needs scooping every few days. Playing with and brushing Winnie are her love languages.
Our landscape is supported by a sprinkler system and is largely self-sufficient, but someone who enjoys light garden tidying — like deadheading flowers or tending to a few potted plants during the growing season — would be a lovely fit.
What are the good features of the property and location
We live in a quiet, beautiful gated community that feels relaxed and welcoming rather than formal, with mature trees, winding streets, a pool, and access to the Cape Fear River. Our five-year-old home is clean, comfortable, and private — a peaceful place to unwind.
We’re about 20 minutes from the historic riverwalk in downtown Wilmington and 35–40 minutes from several stunning nearby beaches. WiFi is excellent throughout the home.
What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment
A vehicle is necessary as we are outside of town. We do live in a gated community, so out of respect for our neighbors' sense of security, it's important that only the designated house sitter(s) have access to the development.

Lovely Winnie
Spent a relaxing week with sweet Winnie who warmed up to me right away. She slept on my bed from Day 1, but otherwise a very independent cat. She enjoys fur brushing and some toy time with her people, to go outside occasionally and meal time on time. Lisa and Jim’s home is comfortable, spacious and organized. They’re pros at this! Even in winter, I enjoyed the sun room and patio on nice days. A short drive takes you to grocery stores in Leland and just a bit farther to beach, river walk, and all the history and many dining options in Wilmington. Lisa keeps an info notebook with maps and clear instructions on care and feeding for wonderful Winnie. Very enjoyable stay.

Awesome time with Winnie
Lisa and Jim were amazing. Being house sitters themselves they had everything organized and detailed. The location was beautiful and there was much to do and see in the area. And there was a binder with many suggestions, pamphlets and maps. HOWEVER, the BEST part of this sit was spending time with Miss Winnie!! She is so sweet and loving. She loves to be brushed and snuggled. She has such a great personality and is so funny! She also loves to go outside and explore and will come home whenever she decides it's time. I absolutely fell in love with her and hope there will be more opportunities to enjoy spending time with her.

Best homeowner to work for!
Lisa was a wonderful homeowner to work with from start to finish. I have been cat sitting for Lisa and her husband Jim over the last two years with multiple return assignments. They are easy to approach, good communicators, organized with instructions, and made me feel very welcome in their comfortable home. Neighbors were friendly and helpful with a storm power outage (generator started) and other minor issues. Winnona is an adorable, well-behaved tuxedo cat that you will love. I highly recommend cat sitting for Lisa and Jim!

A wonderful first housesitting experience
This was my first house sitting experience with Mind My House and it went smoothly. My host was friendly, organized, reliable, tidy, helpful, and kept in contact. She helped me feel comfortable right away by scheduling a virtual face time meeting which included a tour of her home to know what to expect. She gave me a neighborhood map, addressed security issues (neighborhood is very safe), and gave me the contact of her next door neighbor if I needed help with anything. She wrote out written directions and was available by phone when questions arose at any point before and during the sit. The cat was playful, active, curious, and overall easy to care for. I quickly adapted to the commute into town for supplies and/or attractions. I highly recommend this host!
