About this assignment

My dates are slightly flexible. I am ready to fit in with a sitters' availability so they could leave sooner or later than dates posted as my house has accommodation for myself and sitters. I need someone practical and responsable who has lived in rural settings and enjoys fresh air, space and being close nature. Someone attentive and observant. A person who lives in France or has prior experience of living in France.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Water garden if and when necessary (usually every three days in the late evening) which means using a hose and electric pump (simple). Feed at least 2 cats dry food once a day and ensure they and wild birds have clean water available. Keep an eye on them and provide company. There is also a wild fox to leave out food for in the garden evening but this is not an obligation. He does not disturb the cats or myself. Be a presence on the property. Perhaps use a basic petrol lawnmower if necessary.

What are the good features of the property and location

Private, peaceful, picturesque on the edge of a charming village with bar and restaurant. Close to lakes, forest and mountains. Space and trees, birds. Great cycling on local roads and swimming in nearby lakes. Plenty of villages to visit and hikes to take. Local regular markets.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

Driving a car is necessary, you will preferably come with your own car as the one sitter who used my car almost destroyed it!
The village is fairly remote. Supermarket and market at 7 km.
Need to be able to speak some French as not many people here speak English.
Need to be independent and not expect luxury! My place is comfortable and has all the basics. Please be patient if I do not immediately respond while away as not always connected. Thank you

Can I bring my own pets?

Yes
Restrictions: A dog not suitable and my cat is quite possesive and territorial!
