About this assignment
Tiddles is a well-traveled international cat and can meow in three languages. He is healthy, easy to live with and is now in his senior years. He recently returned from a lengthy trip to Paris and now wants to just stay home. He is independent and spends time with his friends in the vegetable garden, when not napping on the couch. He is looking for someone to love and care for him while his family is gone. And as his Auntie used to say, "someone to water the cat, and feed the flowers".
What responsibilities are required of the house sitter
As Tiddles is pretty low maintenance, you will have time to explore the island (which was named the Cultural Center of Italy in 2022), take a ferry to nearby Ischia for a spa day, relax on the beach or just enjoy the beautiful roof top terrace reading a book. If missing city life, Naples is less than one hour away for shopping, museums, opera or even a pizza.
What are the good features of the property and location
Italian island life is very laid back. All the food is fresh and local, especially the fish which can be bought direct from the boat every day at 4pm. Several good restaurants are nearby. The house was a 16th century watchtower and of course, renovated recently. The first floor is the kitchen, living area and bathroom. Up the spiral staircase is the bedroom with queen bed and a domed ceiling. Just up a few steps outside is the panoramic terrace with 360 views of the islands and the sea with comfortable lounge chairs, outdoor summer kitchen and dining table.
What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment
The house is ideal for a couple or one person. No children or pets. As there are several sets of stairs good knees and mobility are required. Any bit of Italian would be useful, as it is a friendly island yet Italian is mostly spoken. Nonresident cars are not. Most places are walking distance. Bikes are preferred. And buses are frequent. I would prefer a more mature applicant, a couple would be great.

It was a joy to look after Jillie's cat on the island of Procida. Tiddles was a perfect gentleman. He was communicative and affectionate with us. He loved his daily grooming and showed great interest in whatever was cooking. Jillie's home is unique, beautiful and comfortable with a stunning view of the sea. We found Jillie to be an excellent communicator and a kind and thoughtful host. She gave us recommendations of things to see and do and introduced us to her friends and neighbours. We arrived at Jillie's place as cat sitters and left as friends. This was one of the best experiences we have had in 10 years of volunteering. Grazie mille Jillie. A presto!
