Our two cats are very different. Big, the boy loves to be around humans. Charlie the girl is much shyer and keeps to herself. Neither use a litter tray, but are completely house trained and always go outside.

About this assignment
Someone who will take the best, most attentive care of our home, its surroundings, and our two very individual cats. That means being aware of how the house works, incoming weather, and what the cats are up to on any given day. We are looking for someone who is self reliant, proactive, practical and capable of looking after a fairly large property in the countryside.
What responsibilities are required of the house sitter
Care for our two very different cats (feeding, keeping an eye on their health and taking to the vets if necessary).
General care of the house (cleaning as needed, monitoring of heating and power systems, maintenance of pellet fired heating system - loading pellet burner and weekly cleaning).
General maintenance of the grounds around the house, checking for weather/wild animal (wild boar) damage. Gardening as needed at the time of year.
What are the good features of the property and location
The Lemon House is located in Lunigiana - rural northern Tuscany, about 30 minutes' drive from the Mediterranean coast and an hour from mountains, including a ski resort. In fact both sea and mountains are visible from the house, and on a winter's morning you will witness some of the most beautiful sunrises you are ever likely to see - from the kitchen doorway!
The house is on the edge of a small village (just one other property nearby).
It has wood burners in the lounge and kitchen, ensuite bathrooms to all three bedrooms, a pool (open from May to September), and a sauna.
Although it's surrounded by greenery it is just 5km from a motorway junction and an hour from Pisa airport.
The village has no shops (the nearest supermarket is 4km away), but five restaurants. It is less than 45 minutes from the Cinque Terre, and many of the most famous Tuscan towns (eg Lucca, Florence) can be visited in a day.
What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment
While there is a strong community in our village and a population over 1000, you will be living in a house where you will need to be self reliant in terms of coping with any day-to-day problems that arise, and feel secure living in a secluded location at night.
There is a train station in the nearby town of Aulla (4km from the house), with direct links to cities including Lucca, Florence and La Spezia. However we would strongly recommend that you come in your own transport as we are unable to provide a car.

A wonderful stay in a lovely part of Italy
We were the lucky ones to sit for Ruth and James in their beautiful house and take care for Big and Charlie, the 2 cats. Ruth and James were very welcoming when we arrived and showed us around the big house and garden and gave us all the information we needed. They took us to one of the 5 restaurants of Podenzana, wich is very famous for the local panigacci. We loved it. They also gave us a lot of ideas about the places to visite. Although this sit was just for 8 days we had a great time and we enjoyed our stay so much. We love to come back for another sit.

Lovely sitting in Tuscany
I've had the pleasure of being the first sitter at Ruth and James's house, spending six weeks in their haven of peace. They are super hosts: friendly from the beginning, welcoming, absolutely unique good people, kind and generous. They were always available to answer any questions and responded rapidly when the need arose. The house is spacious, comfortable, 100% peace and quiet, the location is perfect for exploring far and wide the beautiful area. Big, sociable and affectionate, lives outdoor, more reserved Charlie has a cat door, no litter tray, they are real sweethearts, it was a pleasure to look after. I strongly recommend this homesitting experience to everyone who wants to spend time in a lovely house in a beautiful and quiet surrounding with kind cats.
