About this assignment
I’m looking for a reliable, caring and independent person to look after Paula, our lovely senior Labrador, from 24 September to 6 October.
Our property is in Carvoeiro in the Algarve, close to the Alfanzina Lighthouse and coastal walking trails, with a garden and pool. You will have your own private accommodation and plenty of free time to enjoy the area.
I will also be staying at the property with my baby. I have appointments and things to take care of, so I’m looking for someone who can give Paula time and company. We will each have our own routine, with no expectation of shared meals or spending our days together.
What responsibilities are required of the house sitter
The main responsibility is looking after Paula: feeding her, taking her for regular walks and giving her company and opportunities to go outside during the day. She is gentle, affectionate and easy-going, and does not need strenuous exercise.
A few small daily tasks include watering the garden with a hose towards the end of the day, skimming leaves from the pool and sweeping up some fallen leaves. I will show you everything when you arrive.
If you enjoy gardening, you’re welcome to do a little while you’re here, but this is entirely optional.
What are the good features of the property and location
Our small property has a garden and pool and is set in peaceful surroundings in Carvoeiro, within walking distance of the Alfanzina Lighthouse and the Seven Hanging Valleys Trail. There are beautiful beaches and coastal walks nearby, and Carvoeiro makes a great base for exploring the Algarve. You will have your own private accommodation.
What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment
I will be staying on the property with my baby during this period, while you will have separate private accommodation. You should be comfortable being independent and organising your own days around Paula’s care. There is plenty of time to explore, but Paula needs regular company and opportunities to go outside, so this arrangement suits someone who does not plan to be away all day.
We do not provide a car, but there is a small grocery shop directly across the road. You’re also welcome to join me when I go shopping.
