Algarve - looking for someone to take care of our Labrador and property

About this assignment

We have a small family run resort with just a few units, garden and pool in one of Portugal's most beautiful coastal areas.

I used to run this place myself with the help of a gardener and cleaners.
But unfortunately my mum has been diagnosed with cancer and needs me by her side to go through this difficult time. She is receiving medical treatment in Munich and that's where I stay with her.

I'm basically looking for someone who is willing to help me with our place in Algarve and our Labrador Paula, while I'm away.

We offer you a comfortable apartment in a beautiful environment.

We need someone to take care of Paula, our sweet Labrador mix.

to meet and greet our holiday guests

to help with little maintenance works and ideally someone who is handy and familiar with house related issues.

If you are a couple who is willing to help us and spend some time in this beautiful coastal spot, I would love to hear back from you and will happily answer all your questions.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter:

Taking care after our Labrador mix Paula, empty mailbox, keeping the outside area clean, sweeping leaves, taking leaves out of the pool, watering plants if necessary. Doing some light garden work. Communicate with me if issues arise.

What are the good features of the property and location:

You will have a self contained comfortable two bedroom apartment, lovely gardens and miles of wonderful walking trails which Paula adores. We are located within walking distance from the lighthouse of Alfanzina/Carvoeiro, just a few minutes from the famous seven hanging valleys trail. The coast near us is maybe one of the most beautiful stretches of the entire Algarve

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying
for this assignment:

You will need to enjoy walks with our well behaved and adorable Paula, enjoy peace and quiet. We need someone reliable who is happy to stay at our place and who doesn’t mind assuming little duties around the place if and when necessary.

Dates: approximately 9–20 November with some flexibility on the exact dates)

Location: Carvoeiro, Algarve – near the Alfanzina Lighthouse

We are looking for a reliable, nature-loving couple to take care of our home and our Labrador during a short period while we are away.

Our lovely dog Paula is calm, friendly, and easygoing. She enjoys two relaxed walks per day – one in the morning and one in the evening.

? Your Main Responsibilities

Looking after Paula with care and affection
Taking her for two short walks daily (morning and evening)
Keeping the flower beds tidy and pulling a few weeds
Planting some new grass roots where needed (we plant grass, not seed it)
Helping to keep the outdoor area neat and pleasant
Our gardener continues to take care of mowing, trimming, and general maintenance — so your part is really about small, caring touches that make a place feel well looked after.

You’ll stay in a comfortable, fully equipped apartment within our quiet residential area. It’s within walking distance of the cliffs and the lighthouse, surrounded by beautiful nature and a peaceful atmosphere.

truly enjoy spending time with dogs,
have a natural sense of order and care,
and appreciate calm, authentic surroundings.
This house sit is not about “free accommodation” – it’s about being present, trustworthy, and enjoying simple, meaningful tasks in a beautiful environment.
