About this assignment

We are looking for a responsible and caring house sitter to look after our home in Esterones de Sámara, a small and ????? neighborhood near the coast.

On the same property—completely separate thanks to a wall and automatic gate—we also run a small Airbnb made up of two converted buses.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Your main responsibilities would include taking care of our friendly dog, watering the plants if needed, and feeding and giving water to our four chickens. Additionally, in case any guests staying in the Airbnb experience issues, we would ask you to contact the trusted technicians we already have in place.

We’re looking for someone reliable, attentive, and comfortable with a mix of pet care and light property oversight.

What are the good features of the property and location

My home is located in a peaceful area of Guanacaste, Costa Rica, just 1.5 km from the nearest beach. The property features a private swimming pool and a garden, perfect for relaxing and enjoying the tropical surroundings.

The house is comfortable and well-equipped, offering everything needed for a pleasant stay. One of the highlights is our very loving and friendly dog, who will need care and companionship during your stay.

The location is quiet and safe, ideal for those who enjoy nature and a laid-back lifestyle. Shops, restaurants, and local services are within a short distance.

Please note that having a vehicle (car or motorbike) is recommended to move around easily and explore the area.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

Before applying, please consider that this assignment involves caring for a very friendly and affectionate dog who will need daily attention, feeding, and companionship.

Our home is located in a quiet area, about 1.5 km from the beach. While this offers peace and privacy, it is recommended to have your own vehicle (car or motorbike) to move around comfortably and access shops and services.

Sitters should be comfortable living in a warm tropical climate and taking care of a house with outdoor spaces, including a garden and swimming pool (basic maintenance may be required).

Basic Spanish is not strictly necessary, but it would be helpful for getting around and communicating locally.

We are looking for responsible, reliable people who enjoy a relaxed lifestyle, nature, and spending time with animals.

Can I bring my own pets?

No, sorry.

Beautiful House Sit

We had a wonderful time in Costa Rica caring for Barbara and Enrico's home, dog Nemo and 4 chickens. We felt very welcome right from the start, recieving clear communication and information and a fantastic home cooked meal upon arrival. The house is comfortable with everything you need and although we didn't have air conditioning in the house there were plenty of fans to keep it cool. We used the beautiful pool every day and were lucky enough to enjoy tasty ripe papaya right from the tree in the yard. The house is located within walking distance of a beautiful beach which we enjoyed taking Nemo to twice a day. It was a fantastic quiet place to walk around and we felt safe in the neighbourhood. A car is probably necessary as there is not much around and we drove into Nosara and Samara for groceries and to check out local spots. The driving was good and we did not require a 4x4. Nemo was a very easy dog to take care of and we enjoyed walking with him along the beach, he warmed up to us within a few days but was super excited to see his family return. The small chicken coop was easy to care for and having fresh eggs every day was a treat. We did encounter some rain and a few power outages during this house sit but overall we enjoyed being in CR and at the house a great deal. Thank you so much Barbara and Enrico for sharing your piece of paradise with us. We hope to connect again in the future. Leslie and Ken
