The cat and the dogs are shy and take time to get used to strangers, so they are low maintenance..
We are looking for a reliable, animal lover, who enjoys being out in the countryside. It is essential that the house sitter has a car in order to get to the property and explore the Algarve.
We are really just looking for someone to be at the house at night, to top up the food and water for the cat and feed the two dogs.
There are a few plants that require water twice per week.
It is a cozy farmhouse in the country, with a pool, and an orchard with unlimited supply of oranges. Restaurants and a famous winery are less than 5 minutes from the house. It is about 15 minutes from the historic town of Silves, with all amenities, restaurants and coffee shops. Also about 20 minutes is the city of Portimao, The beaches of Alvor and Carvoeiro are an easy drive, as is the mountain town of Monchique.
This is a quiet, rural environment. Having a car is essential, to get to the property and to explore the beaches and mountains of the western Algarve.
No, sorry.

Home in the Algarve Countryside
We enjoyed having an overlap with Sue and Rob to get to know them, the house, animals and area. They left specific written instructions. They have a lovely house out in the countryside. I made fresh orange juice and enjoyed figs from their orchard while sitting on their front patio enjoying the scenery. Their outdoor dogs were easy to care for; they didn’t even need to be taken on walks. Their cats were friendly, and we especially enjoyed the company of Savannah. Silves is 20 minutes away and has a castle, historic streets, wonderful cafes and restaurants, and excellent grocery stores. We spent many days exploring the Algarve coast with its beautiful rock formations and picturesque towns.

Wonderful weeks in Portugal
We had three very nice weeks in Algarve taking care of Sue and Rob’s house and animals. The cats, Samantha and Morgan, were easy to handle. Samantha was very social and asked for treats and cuddling while it took us a while to get close to Morgan. Ginger, the rescuedog, lived outside and was very shy. She was no trouble and lived a happy life with her dogmates from next doors. Most of the time she hanged around the house and she even followed us to the orchard to pick oranges. To pick oranges from the trees to the morning juice was a special treat for us! The house is beautiful situated in a green valley. From there it was easy for us to go to the coast, to small historical villages and on hikes. It was a pleasure to meet Sue and Rob and they gave us all the information we needed to feel safe and secure with taking care of the house and the animals. They even gave us lots of suggestions of where to go and what to see in the area. Sue was also easy to get in touch with during our stay if we had any questions. We highly recommened Sue and Rob’s place for a housesit if you get the chance!

We house sat for Sue and Rob from the 12th Feb - 1st March 2023, beautiful place to look after a property so peaceful and quiet. Two cats to look after one being very friendly and needing attention the other very shy and only came home for food. Very interesting house sit with lots of oranges growing in the orchard. Many thanks Sue & Rob hope to see you again sometime.
