Someone who can appreciate staying in a countryhouse, in a small town in the heart of Spain (La España profunda). It helps when you speak a little Spanish, because very few people speak English in Soria. It's not a touristy spot at all.
And of course I like my house sitter to care for my cat and my house, and leave the house as neat as I left it.
Looking after my white tomcat Messi, feeding him and keep[ing him company. He prefers to sit near to you, not on your lap. He goes on his rounds several times a day, and likes you to be his doorman (although he has his own catflap). As you may know : " cats have staff, dogs have a boss." .
I have a Finoven that needs to be lit once a day with wood. Although I also have central heating I only use it when it's very cold, to save energy.
Cosy retreat in the heart of historical Spain with beautiful views on the surrounding hills from its upper terrace. Ideal for writing and studying, in winter next to the fireplace.Consisting of the main house and a small studio .Equipped with all modern amenities like central heating. Built on the 12th century medieval walls of Almazán, once capital of the old Spain.
Rebuilt with respect to local traditions, close to the medieval towngate (Puerto del Mercado). Unspoilt nature invites to hiking in the pinewood and the Sierra de Urbion, biking on the camino del Cid. As for history: you'll find castles, romanesque churches, and Celtiberian ruins (Numancia).
Good public transport (in bus and train to Madrid is 2,5 h ) 2 hours driving from Madrid and Zaragoza.
Even for Spaniards Soria is a well kept secret: its the least densely populated province of Spain but has a lot to offer

It's very quiet in winter, don't expect to be entertained.
In winter I use the big Finoven, to heat the house, you only have to light it once a day, if it's very cold maybe twice. I prefer not to use the floorheating to save energy, but in case of emergency it's there..
No, sorry.

Fantastic!
Renske's house was great: a very comfortable village house in Almazán (Soria), very tidy and warm. Messi, her cat, is very friendly and sweet. Conversations with Renske were very pleasant and really easy going: I didn't have any problem and I felt as in my own house. I recommend her a lot!

Wonderful time
We were lucky to meet Renske and look after her wonderful cat friend Messi. From the very beginning we got along well. Renske gave us clear instructions, recommendations and was very helpful. We kept in touch throughout our stay and fortunately had the opportunity to meet at the end of our stay. The whole experience of staying with Messi, being in Castille y Leon and meeting Renske was a pleasure and we highly recommend it. What was very special about staying at Renske's house is her openness, trust and hospitality and the folder of instructions she left for us. There was an answer to every question in it, so we were completely clear on how to use the equipment in the house, what to do when we left the house, how to operate the fireplace and how to feed the wonderful Messi, etc. The area we were in is unique, full of amazing towns and nature. Art, history, culture and amazing nature make it impossible to get bored in this part of Spain. And the town we stayed in is small, full of friendly people and welcoming pubs.
