We’re looking for a reliable, cat-loving person, couple or family to stay in our home while we’re away - from Saturday 10 October to Saturday 24 October. You’d be very welcome to arrive on Saturday morning, or, if it suits you better, on Friday afternoon/evening.
Clive is an important member of the family and is very used to having people around, as we both work from home. He enjoys a bit of company - he’ll “chat” to you and likes to be acknowledged when he comes back from his little tours.
He doesn’t need constant attention, but he does appreciate knowing someone is around and prefers not to be left alone for long stretches. If you’re up for it, he loves a bit of playtime in the garden. And, naturally, he’s always happy to be cuddled and given the occasional treat.
Your main responsibility will be to look after Clive and make sure he’s happy and comfortable.
This includes feeding him in the morning and evening, refreshing his water, and keeping an eye on the litter tray (although there’s usually very little to do, as Clive much prefers the outdoors).
From time to time, you may also need to assist with the occasional mouse relocation - Clive does like to bring his finds home.
Clive is used to an early breakfast, so an early riser would be ideal. He also drinks from the tap, and this is his usual routine - he’ll often head to the bathroom to signal that he’d like it turned on, so we’d ask you to keep an eye out for that and help him when needed.
We live in a spacious house with a large garden and private outdoor parking. The house offers two double bedrooms, two single bedrooms and two bathrooms, so there’s plenty of room to settle in and feel at home.
Our small town is just outside Lausanne, with excellent public transport links - around 10 minutes by train or 20 minutes by bus into the city. Lake Geneva is about 10 minutes away by car, and Geneva itself is roughly an hour’s drive.
On clear days, you’ll have views of both Mont Blanc and the Jura, and the forest - with lovely running and walking trails - is just a few steps from the house.
The area feels a little different from the “postcard” image of Switzerland with cows and alpine peaks. This is the French-speaking part, known for its vineyards, the lake, and the beautiful Lavaux region (a UNESCO World Heritage site).
Lausanne, as well as charming lakeside towns such as Morges, Rolle, Lutry and Vevey, are all within easy reach by train, bus or car.
Clive is very attached to us, so he may take a little time to adjust while we’re away. Especially in the first few days, he might “call” for us or wander around the house looking for us.
For that reason, we’re looking for someone who will respond to him, chat to him a little, and let him know all is well so he feels safe and not alone.
Otherwise, day-to-day life here is very easy. Our small town is well connected by train and bus, and you’ll find everything you need close by - including a supermarket, bakery, butcher and pharmacy.
No, sorry.

Great time with Clive in Bussigny
Leonie and Urs were great hosts, we spend such an amazing time in Bussigny! Clive is cuddly, friendly cat and we even spent a few evenings on the couch together, which was also nice :) Leonie gave us detailed instructions, was always reachable in case of any questions and communication was friendly and smooth. Thanks for having us guys, I hope we can repeat one day! :)

Wonderful experience with the amazing Clive the Kitty
Leonie and her family are the nicest people you could ever meet, and their fur baby, Clive is equally endearing. They have a beautiful, bright, spotlessly clean home and lovely yard with a view of the lake and mountains beyond. The home is close to several stunning lakeside villages as well as the beautiful city of Lausanne. Montreux is 1 hour by train along Lake Geneva. There is a woodland park near the house with trails and the village center with groceries and restaurants is a 10 minute walk. About Clive: he is the gentleman of the house. Very polite and well mannered, extremely handsome and photogenic, and a pleasure to be around. He likes to know that you are present, loves to be petted and combed, but not picked up. Did I mention that he likes to be petted? Leonie and Urs are so friendly and kind. They welcomed us and made us feel completely at home in their space. Because of this house sit, we now have wonderful new friends in Switzerland! They had thorough instructions (The Book of Clive) for us on the care and feeding of sweet Clive, operating appliances, etc., as well as tons of great suggestions for exploring the area, markets, restaurants... Leonie communicated with us often but the house runs so smoothly that there was never a question or concern on our part. We loved our time with Clive, loved the area, loved meeting Leonie and her family, and would go back in a heartbeat. Lisa and Jim
