5 acres & Olive Grove in Central Valley California

About this assignment

We like to travel to Europe every year. Currently we have pets that need to be looked after, so long visits are not permitted. If we have a house and pet sitter we could stay for extended periods of time abroad.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Main objective is to care for our animals. 2 cats (indoor/outdoor) and 1 dog (large)

In summer we need to make sure the plant life is watered
In fall we harvest and prune trees
In winter we manage the water load from rain.
We have raised vegetable and flower beds that you are welcome to tend, eat from, take cuttings etc

What are the good features of the property and location

We are 2 hours from: Yosemite, Lake Tahoe, San Francisco, snow skiing and the Pacific Ocean.
There are owls that come and have babies in our box, every year. We get to watch them grow and leave to become adults.
There are 70+ olive trees on our property that are evergreen so even in summer there is something beautiful to see.
There is a seasonal creek. You can go gold digging if you desire.
We sit on 5 acres of property with 2-1/2 being the olive trees. The house is VERY basic. Water is from our well and we have propane for heat in the winter. It can be very hot in the summers, sometimes reaching 100 degrees F. We do have an a/c unit but in the evenings it cools down. We usually open the windows and get the nice Delta breeze.
We live in a rural environment near several lakes and rivers. Boating and fishing are all within 20 minutes. There is a wonderful 18 hole golf course just 3 miles away. There is a lot of outdoor activity from hiking to snow skiing. Lodi and wine tasting are just 1/2 hour away. Sacramento is 1.5 hours drive away.
It is highly recommended that you have a car to fully experience this area.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

The closest grocery store, drug store, limited restaurants are 11 miles away and about a 20 minute drive. There is a hospital in San Andreas, about 40 minutes or Stockton 35 minutes. Fire is on a volunteer basis, within 5 miles.

Can I bring my own pets?

Yes
Restrictions: only dogs which are friendly to cats. neighbors have chickens, geese, goats etc so no "bad dogs"
