About this assignment
We are looking for a house sitter to come stay with our senior dog, Elvis, for 4.5 weeks (13th August until 15th of September 2024) in Nittendorf, Germany (only 2 or 3 weeks in that timeframe would also be possible). We are looking for a loving and honest person/people with experience of caring for an older dog, who wish to make the most of the beautiful countryside to look after our dog. Non-smokers please.
What responsibilities are required of the house sitter
Need to be able to care for our senior dog (15 years) for the duration of the stay, including walks at least 3-4 times a day, feeding 2 times a day. Watering plants and checking if everything is ok in the house.
Our younger son (19) still lives at home and you can share the responsibilities and tasks with him.
What are the good features of the property and location
modern family home with natural garden, pretty location close to nature, woods and river (great for walking the dog), only 15 km from medieval world heritage city of Regensburg, public transport (bus and train) in walking distance. Very nice neighbours.
What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment
Our younger son still lives at home, so this job is for someone who is comfortable with shared housing.
Since our dog Elvis is a 15-year old senior, he needs more attention and can't be left alone for longer than 4 hours. This is quite a job for one person, so I figured it would be good to share these responsibilities.
Our older son (24) who lives in nearby Regensburg will also come by and check if something is needed or help in case of any problems.
Our dog and place are precious to us. We think they will be to you, too. We will need assurances that you will not neglect them.
Our partnership should be equally beneficial and achievable through clear communications and commitment on both sides. Please let us know your needs in advance so we can find agreement there too.
Our home is best suited for 1-2 adults.

I was warmly welcomed by Beate and Peter with a great dinner, walk and swim in the river. Spending time with the dog Elvis is absolutely relaxing and heartwarming. I am very much in love with him. He is already 15 years old, loves walks and being together. He doesn't need much, 2 meals a day and 4 short walks a day. The hiking trails on the doorstep are beautiful. Elvis Rocks!
We thoroughly enjoyed caring for Elvis the Labrador. Walking him in the beautiful Bavarian forests nearby was an absolute pleasure. The homeowners are delightful people and made us feel completely at home. They provided easy instructions, stayed in contact and supported us with local knowledge and information which contributed to making our stay a fantastic experience.
