About this assignment
Someone or a couple to look after our home and take care of our pets. Water a few plants and some very minor items. Clean the house as needed. Our yard and pool are maintained by an outside service.
What responsibilities are required of the house sitter
Feed our Parrot and change water every other day. Nothing else needed.
Feed Dog two times per day and walk at lease once per day. Dog can roam around the house. Can stay in Kennel 6-7 hours if needed.
What are the good features of the property and location
Home is 3 bedroom 2 bath single story in a golf course community. Home is on the golf course. Close to beaches and other water front locations.
What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment
None Smoker. Provide your own transportation. Nothing else out of the ordinary. We live in a gated and guarded community. The community is very safe and very quiet. Lots of walking and biking areas. The golf course is semi-private so golf is available.

In January 2023, my wife and I were vacationing in Florida and saw Ed & Terry’s MindMyHouse pet/house sit posting. The sit was for 9 weeks starting in November of 2023. We applied for the sit and said we were presently staying fifteen minutes from their home and would love to meet them. Ed & Terry responded to our application and invited us to their home. A few days later we arrived at their beautiful home and within minutes of meeting Ed & Terry, we realized we were likeminded and knew this house/pet sit would be ideal for both parties. We shared contact information and agreed to stay in touch over the next several months to exchange details for the sit. Ed prepared a detailed instruction spreadsheet that covered Esther and Mortimer’s care and pertinent house-maintenance information. Over the months leading up to the sit, we had several Skype calls that enabled us to go over any questions and give updates. My wife and I drove to Florida and arrived a few days before Ed & Terry were to leave on their trip to Europe. This gave us all peace-of-mind as we were able to experience Esther and Mortimer’s daily routines and get comfortable with the responsibilities associated with the house. We stayed in touch with Ed & Terry throughout the sit with emails, Facebook posts and a Skype call. Esther likes her routines… she is content with regular walks through the neighbourhood and the golf course. Most days she is happy to lounge in the enclosed pool area and watch the world go by. Mortimer loves the morning when we open his cage and he gets to come out and sit on the top. He enjoys a good conversation… and gets really excited when you bring him his favorite treat – a shelled, unsalted peanut. Ed & Terry are simply the BEST! The time we spent before their departure left us feeling as if we were life-long friends. Their beautiful home sits in a quiet, gated community and backs on a golf course. There is an abundance of wildlife that provide nonstop entertainment. We were warmly welcomed by many of Ed & Terry’s neighbours making us feel right at home. The nine week sit flew by and left us with many wonderful memories… thank you Ed & Terry.
