About this assignment

Hi there :)
I’m looking for a reliable and nature-loving person (or couple) to take care of my 5 cats and my rustic countryside home for the entire month of August while I’m away.

My small Andalusian house is located between the white villages of Olvera and Torre Alháquime, in a peaceful and remote area with no noise or light pollution – perfect for someone seeking quiet and simplicity.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

? Your tasks:

Feed the cats twice a day

Water my trees every 2–3 days (takes about an hour)

Keep the house aired out and clean (dust builds up quickly in summer ;)

What are the good features of the property and location

I have a small, traditional Andalusian home built with thick stone walls that stay pleasantly cool even in the August heat (as long as you air it out daily, preferably between 7–9am or after 9pm).

? The house includes:

A naturally cool bedroom built into the hillside (no windows, cave-like and fresh even in summer)

Kitchen, living area, and bathroom with a camping toilet

Outdoor compost toilet, open-air kitchen, terrace with seating and a small outdoor bed overlooking the mountains

? Both villages host their traditional ferias in August – great fun if you enjoy local festivals!

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

I would like to have a trustful person or couple, who can live very simple on limited ressources, calm and quite in the house and love nature and animals.

? Please note: The entrance is currently being concreted, and some light construction work may continue into the first week of August.
? A car is highly recommended – the nearest shops are in the villages, about 5–10 minutes away. I have a bicycle, but it’s not ideal for daily errands.

? It gets hot in August (often over 40°C), but it’s a dry heat. The thick walls keep the house cool if you ventilate at the right times (early morning or late evening).

Can I bring my own pets?

No, sorry.

Testimonials

We spent great and calm days at Miriam's finca. The house is simple but it has very good energy and it´s very cozy. Communication with Miriam was very easy the entire time, before we went and during the time we were there. She was very helpful to anything we might need and we didn't lack anything. It was our first housesitting but she made it very easy for us, with her so good vibes and trust in us. She made us feel at home. Thank you, Miriam, for giving us the opportunity ????. Lili and Mia are two great cats. Mia is more independent and only came at meal times, but Lili was always at home, she never goes too far away, we spent very nice times with her, she likes to play and be pampered sometimes. We are still missing her.. The house is close to a small town but it is so quiet, we loved this. We had a vegetable garden from which we supplied the entire time we were there (although it was almost autumn). We recommend it no doubt, and we would return if the opportunity arose! :D

Lovely cats and vegetable garden in beautiful Andalucia

We had a great time taking care of Lilly and Catinka while enjoying fresh vegetables straight out the garden. At night we also would have wonderful times under the stars that looked amazing in the clear sky. We stayed in touch with Miriam the whole time we were there and she was always available to answer any questions we had. She also provided us with friendly contacts who would provide help in case we needed anything. All in all it was a positive experience coming to this finca. Hopefully we will be able to come back in the future.
