Live in cat and house sitter needed January 2026

About this assignment

We are seeking a quiet non smoking sitter who would be interested in spending a week in a Southwestern Ontario village. Couples are also welcome.
We have two indoor cats and one outdoor cat who lives in our garage.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

The main reason we are looking for a housesitter is because one of the indoor cats became very angry with us for leaving him for a week while we went on vacation and proceeded to pee in every boot/shoe tray in the house - despite there being someone who came by everyday to check on him.
We are thinking that if someone is home with him all (or most) of the time, maybe that will pacify him.

What are the good features of the property and location

Our village is not accessible by public transit, but we are able to pick you up/drop off at the nearest airport in London, Ontario or train station in Glencoe, Ontario. We do not have a vehicle available for your use. If you do provide your own vehicle, there are several urban centres (London, Chatham, St Thomas) within a 40 min drive. If the rural scene is more to your liking, there are many parks and conservation areas within a 25 min drive.
A grocery store, pharmacy, hardware store, public library, coffee shops, and salons are within less than a minute walk from our house.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

We do not have cable or satellite, but you can stream to the Chromecast with your /tablet/laptop via the wifi. All appliances are available for your use.
Ideally, if the housesitter could arrive a day or two ahead of time to become familiar with the cats' schedules, that would be great.
