Hi I'm Laura and we're looking for a friendly reliable person/family to take care of our animals when we go away between Mid July and the end of October. Dates are flexible.
All our animals are chilled and relaxed and get on with each other. We live in the countryside in Ireland surrounded by green and have 2 acres for relaxing in. The house is a 10min drive from the nearest town.
We are looking for someone / family to stay in the house while we are away. It takes about 15 minutes a day spread over the morning and evening to care for the animals. Jobs include refilling the hen’s water, feeding andcleaning out any mess in the nesting box (it’s never too bad). You will need to feed the cat, dog and rabbits twice a day and give them some cuddles.
Ash our dog gets anxious on her own for more than about 4-5 hours. She is exceedingly good traveling in a car, and good being out and about, she's calm and loves children and people. She ADORES other dogs too. She doesn’t need daily walks as such but if you are going out she will adore coming with you. she also loves if you throw her ball for her lots. Jack the cat loves to cuddle and chase sticks!
All animals get on with each other, and all are child friendly.
In the field attached to us is a lovely horse that we feed each day for her owner when she isn’t able to pop down to do so.
We live in the heart of the countryside, surrounded by spruce forests, while still only being a stones throw from the historic town of Boyle.
It's a 3/4 bed bungalow cottage built at the beginning of the 20th century, surrounded by 5 acres of land. A traditional cottage, with a modern twist, the house is cheery and cosy. The main bedroom has a comfy double bed and ensuite toilet, one room sports a loft bed good for older kids (or adults), while the other has a midi loft bed, perfect for anyone over 4 years old.
There is also a single sofa bed in the spare room so there is buckets of space and sleep options! we can also provide a cot and other items for younger children upon request.
The house comes with a washer, dishwasher and electric shower. There is an oil heating system and also a stove in the sitting room for cosy fires in the evening.
On nice summer evenings we have a large decking outside along with an outside fire burner, which is a lovely way to spend an evening!
Surrounding area
We are a stones throw from Lough Key park, Lough Gill, Doon Shore, Boyle with it's Abby, King's House, a weekend Market, Boyle Marina and all the amineties you would expect (takeaways, supermarket and some lovely cafes and places to eat). We're a 15min drive from Carrick on Shannon which is great little town with boats to hire and a cinema for wet days, and 30 mins from Sligo town and 40 from Strandhill if surfing is your thing. Just at the edge of the Wild Atlantic Way, there are a pile of lovely day trips possible from here. There are plenty of cycling and walking routes to enjoy locally as well.
The house isn’t connected with public transport, so you will need to be able to drive and have access to a car.
This house is suitable for people looking for a quiet spot without neighbours.
Yes
Restrictions: as long as they’ve been tested with rabbits and cats
Testimonials
House sitting and pet care
We looked after Laura's house for about 10 days and it was great. Laura and her family were very welcoming, the house was really comfortable and cozy, and the animals were adorable. We'll miss Ash, the cutest little dog, very much. She was so endearing. Thanks again for this experience, and to future house-sitters, go for it without hesitation!
