Both Pancho and Lefty are cuddly and loving
We need an experienced house sitter and cat-lover to stay in our home and look after our two loveable cats, Pancho and Lefty. The picture of me holding them was taken when we first adopted them at age 4 months. They're adults now but just as cute.
Pancho and Lefty are friendly, cuddly, happy boys who love to play. They're used to having someone play with them for 10 or 15 minutes with their "bird" toy (feathers on a fishing line), once or twice a day. They'll hop on your lap whenever they want to be held.
They have dry kibbles available at all times, plus they split a can of Fancy Feast twice a day.
Their litter box needs to be scooped twice a day to keep down odors in the house.
In addition to the kitties, we also have Indoor potted plants that need to be watered every 4 days, and a few outdoor potted plants that need to be watered almost daily if the weather is hot. Also outdoors, the bird feeder needs to be filled with seed about once a week, and the birdbath needs to be filled with water when it dries out, which is every two to three.
Our home has big windows with views of the Sangre de Christo mountains to the east and Jemez mountains to the west. To watch the spectacular New Mexico sunrises and sunsets, you can go up on our rooftop deck and see the horizon in all directions. We're in a quiet peaceful neighborhood 15-20 minutes from most of Santa Fe. In Santa Fe you find a rich hub of art and culture, history and museums. There are over 300 galleries and over 400 restaurants, and a surprisingly large number of theaters for such a small population. New Mexico is culturally varied and interesting, with 23 Native American reservations and many prehistoric Anasazi ruins, as well as Hispanic history, and you can visit any number of pueblos and cultural sites within about an hour's drive.
There are open space trails right outside our door where you can walk for miles in the arroyos. Or you can drive up the ski basin road from Santa Fe to find hundreds of miles of wilderness hiking trails in the Sangre de Christo mountains.
.
Things to consider:
1. There is no public transportation near here, and the nearest store is a 14 minute drive away.
2. We have no TV service, though we do have high-speed internet and WiFi, and there's a large TV that you can connect your computer to in order to watch movies through WiFi.
No, sorry.

Buddy is his own man...
We loved our time with Buddy. He is his own man with strong opinions and charm galore. He loves being picked up - briefly and when he specifically asked for it:) It felt like such a victory when he decided to sleep with us after a few days. It is obvious he is well-loved by his people. Marcy and Tom are great to interact with as well; organized and flexible. Their home is just gorgeous. We loved working from their back patio.

Enjoyable Southwest Catsit
Our recent petsit near Albuquerque was enjoyable, with a sweet cat, Buddy, a beautiful house and the lovely landscape and attractions of New Mexico. Marcy and Tom were delightful hosts as they oriented us to our duties and to the local area. It was not too difficult to keep Buddy on his special diet. He was a good companion, keeping us company both in the house and on the terrace. Marcy had a detailed list with all the information we needed to know. We enjoyed getting to know them and gained a deeper appreciation of the Southwest, its natural beauty and indigenous heritage.

Wonderful!
I sat for Marcy a couple of years ago, and it's been a real disappointment our schedules haven't jived since. It was such a great experience house sitting for her and caring for Buddy. Marcy is very organized and, having had sitters before, is prepared with all the information one might need. She is clear in her communications and expectations and I felt completely supported. Her home is exquisite. I spent much of my time in her sun room which has a small wood-burning stove, lots of plants ,beautiful views, and the sweetest cat ever to keep you company. There is shopping in the little town nearby and a pretty quick drive to Albuquerque for stocking up. I was also able to get a temporary library card. The house is remote, but not isolated since there are neighbors just up the road. My car doesn't have 4WD and I was able to manage even when there was lots of snow. As a single woman alone I felt completely safe. And, yes, the house is sometimes surrounded by coyotes at night serenading!
