About this assignment

Must be a true animal lover, at best vegan or vegetarian, independent and must enjoy the peace and tranquility of living in nature in the middle of a forest

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Taking care of the animals which include:
- 13 cats, 4 dogs, 18 sheep, 1 cow

While the numbers sound like it's a lot of work, actually all animals are quite independent and the necessary stuff should be doable in about an hour per day. The sheep for example don't need any care on a normal day as they got automatic water dispensers and they and the cow have enough land to graze on. Only during extreme dry spells or in the middle of winter do they need additional hay as food. The cats and dogs will need a bit more time to provide them food and water and clean the cats' litter boxes (although most of them prefer to do it outside). The dogs have their large outdoor area, so doing walks with them is not necessary, but optional depending on your and their motivation :-). Of course, the cats and dogs always enjoy additional love and care :-)

What are the good features of the property and location

The house is in a really quiet location surrounded by nature. Still easily accessible by a paved access road (no public transport though, so you should have your own means of transportation). You do live in a recently renovated appartment in the main house. It's 20 minutes to Figueres and supermarkets, 40 minutes to Girona or the beaches (including a dog beach), 1h 20m to Barcelona (or less than an hour by high-speed train). Beautiful hikes (the GR-2 trail passes right by the house) are just outside the door and visits to picturesque medieval villages within easy reach.

Also, if you are interested in a longer stay, let me know. As you do stay in a separate appartment, your stay here is quite flexible and you can stay without problems while I am at home as well. Actually, if you want to stay in a quiet place for a few months working on some book or taking some time-out or whatever, let me know. It could be a great match for both of us. I need to go away from time to time and instead of looking for a sitter each single time, you just might stay here a few months and take care of the animals while I'm away. You would have a nice place without any duties most of the time, and I would save the hassle of searching for a new sitter every time.

The dates given here are somewhat flexible as well. So if you would rather come a bit earlier or later / stay longer or shorter, that's fine.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

- Own car / motorbike required (I had sitters without, it's a 4km hike to the bus stop, so for a shorter period it can work without a car).
- The cats and dogs are all from the street. They are gentle, but some are a bit cautious with strangers. Don't take it personal ;-). None is agressive or a danger.
- There is Internet access (by mobile network) which works really well most of the time and I and other people participated in video conferences from here without problems :-). But sometimes the connection slows or breaks down (mostly during bad weather).
- While I usually prefer sitters without their own animals, it may work in specific cases. If you think that your animal is compatible with the place and animals, let me know.

Can I bring my own pets?

No, sorry.
