Puglia, Italy house and cat sit in the countryside

About this assignment

Preferably a cat loving couple to look after our 5 indoor/outdoor cats for 10 days in October. In exchange, you will experience the beautiful Puglian countryside from the comfort of our large, modern home ideally situated within a 10 to 12 minute drive from 3 villages and half an hour from many towns to visit including Ostuni, Alberobello, Grotagglie, Locorotondo, etc

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Feed and care for 5 indoor cats including changing litter and cleaning up after them, maintain our home in a clean and tidy condition. The cats range in age from 4 years to 11 years old and are all very healthy.

What are the good features of the property and location

We live in a very spacious 3 bedroom (one of which we use as our snug with large TV and wood burning fireplace), 2 bathroom home on a large property set amongst olive trees in the countryside. Features include a large covered terrace off the main kitchen/dining area with outdoor kitchen, gas BBQ, outdoor shower and firepit. We also have a pool with fabulous relaxation area including another outdoor kitchen with coal BBQ, sunbeds, hammock, Balinese hanging chair and covered dining area. There are many different outdoor spaces to relax around our property. It is a very quiet and peaceful location whilst being close enough to 3 villages for all your shopping and other services. You will need your own car to get around. You can explore the Valle d'Itria and surrounding areas. We are close to the Acquedotto Pugliese cyclying/walking track (we have 2 bikes you can use). Within a 30 minute drive you will find Ostuni (famous white hill town), Grotagglie (ceramics), Alberobello (trulli town), Locorotondo, Cisternino, Martina Franca, Ceglie Messapica (local foodie hub). You can explore the Adriatic (east) and Ionian (west) coasts. Bari airport is a 1.5 hour drive and we are only 45 minutes from Brindisi airport. Lecce (the Florence of the south) is a 1 hour drive. October is a fantastic month to explore Puglia when there are less tourists and it is a little cooler.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

The health and safety of our cats is our priority and they must be kept indoors at night (and when you leave the house) and within their large fenced area during the day. We have good systems and procedures in place to help things run smoothly. You will need your own car to get around. Whilst we have Wifi, we do not have good mobile telephone signal on our property.
