About this assignment
We would like someone who loves animals and will care for our house in a dependable and trustworthy manner. Ideally a couple as it normally takes 2 to walk the dogs.
What responsibilities are required of the house sitter
Our 2 dogs are a bundle of fun and energy. Loulou is 15 and tries really hard to keep up with Nala who is 7. Both are described as Labrador on their French paperwork, however, when you meet them, you will see that this is not quite accurate?. Harvey, our cat, is actually female, and named after the TV character Harvey from the TV series Suits because of her character. Another of our cats is called Sugar. Sadly we lost her brother earlier this year. However, we now have Gracie., who is definitely a bundle of fun. Just before Christmas, someone “dumped “ a little bundle of skin and bones close to our hedge. Thanks to Nalas insistence I took a look and there I found a very small, unhealthy looking kitten. We took him in and nursed him back to health over a number of weeks. We call him truffle and hope he continues to thrive. Also new to our animal house are George (ina) and Mildred, 2 chickens who are very friendly and are good layers. There’s nothing like a fresh organic egg. All 5 love cuddles, and love spending time with you.
What are the good features of the property and location
Our welcoming house is waiting for you in the heart of Normandy. It is in the countryside with local walks for the dogs, but only 5 minutes from the town of Saint Lo. It has a beautiful garden and terrace, ideal for sitting, sipping aperitifs. There is plenty of garden for the dogs to run around in and it is completely secure. The famous D Day beaches and Le Mont St Michel are within travelling distance to visit. For dog walking there are lots of countryside walks for you to take. If you like horse riding we have a lovely riding stables who offer hacks out in the beautiful Normandy countryside.
What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment
You would need a vehicle as there is no close public transport. We only have one spare bedroom so it isn’t suitable for a family with children.
Can I bring my own pets?

Debbie and Dale were the perfect hosts when we arrived, having prepared us a gorgeous evening meal. Their home was very comfortable, clean, and equiped with everything you could need. They kept in touch and answered messages promptly. The extended family of 4 cats.2 dogs and 2 chickens. All with their individual personalities. Accepted us with good grace. Lou Lou was a darling old boy who followed me around everywhere, and was content to lie at my feet. He loved being close. Nala was more active, but they both loved their walks when the weather permitted. The cats were all very different in nature, but it seemed a great achievement to have two on my lap at the same time. Truffle being a kitten was so playful and a delight. I could easily have put him in the car with Lou Lou to bring home. Even Rosemary and Thyme, the chickens (a first for us) provided us with entertainment plus eggs. We thoroughly enjoyed our time with this housesit and thank Debbie and Dale fot entrusting their extended family into our care.

It was a calm housesitting in a modern home close to everything you need. The pets definitely impressed us with their specific personalities and thanks to that we’ve found a way to treat every pet to its liking. The cats and dogs are very friendly, clever and just love to be pet, so they desire a lot of your attention. Debbie and Dale were super welcoming and we are grateful for them giving us their trust. We didn’t have much time to meet, yet they told us everything accordingly and prepared us right. They were very kind to let us have what the house offered without any restrictions so it truly felt like home. They responded to every question quickly and we have felt as comfortable as possible the whole stay. We recommend to anyone looking to discover Normandy and have a playful group of pet friends with them. Thank you, we already miss all of it!

House sitting for Debbie and Dale in France
We had a great time sitting for Debbie and Dale, their entire home and property was clean, quiet and well organized. The guest bedroom was clean and comfortable and the bathroom pristine. Debbie and Dale provided detailed instructions which were very helpful and they were easy to contact and quickly responded to any questions that came up. The three beautiful cats were sweet and extremely easy to care for, the two dogs were very friendly and enjoyed their walks with us, and the two chickens were also very easy to care for and provided us with fresh eggs everyday which was a bonus. The house is located in a quiet rural setting and a short drive to all amenities. All in all, an excellent experience and I would highly recommend this couple and their pets! Lovely experience
The house sit at Debbie and Dale's was lovely. Debbie was easy to communicate with, and there is also a detailed written briefing. The house is centrally located in Normandy, about 45-50 minutes from the beaches. Work and vacation could be easily combined here. The 2 dogs and 3 cats can move freely in the large garden, and there are beautiful paths in the area for walks. All animals are easy to manage and really loveable. During the stay, we were in regular contact with Debbie without feeling 'supervised'. Perfect! Thank you for your trust!
