Our 2 female dogs can be excitable at meals times (the smaller one can be known to jump up). We currently have 2 cats and 3 kittens, but they're half farm animals we've adopted so not sure how many will be around in August. We have 3 large goats (2 milkin
Annie is from England and we are going to visit family there. Our animals and garden need regular attention, especially during the heat of the summer, so we want someone who is confident with animals. Though, you don't necessarily have to have looked after goats before, just an eager attitude to do it!
Our home is pretty simple, no fancy stuff here, so someone who appreciates a simple Greek lifestyle.
We are leaving on the 7th it would be best for you to arrive on the 5th or 6th for a handover period, but this can be discussed. We will return home on the 20th in the afternoon, so leaving 20th or 21st. However we may have a friend who can come to house sit for the second week/final days, so if you are interested to come only for the first week we are also keen to talk with you.
You will need to feed the animals twice a day, milk two of the goats once a day, clean out the animal houses as needed (probably won't be needed) and give the dogs lots of cuddles. You will also need to water the garden regularly, if it doesn't rain, which it probably wont. There will be a 1/2 handover from Evans to show you everything, you will have an 'instruction manual' with all relevant information, and we will be contactable via WhatsApp if needed.
Our house is a 10 minute walk from the beach and it has beautiful views to the sea in front and mountains to the side. There is a local market 2minute walk away every Monday morning, and the town centre and beach front cafés are within 10/15 minute walk. We are easy to get to by bus from Athens, which we can help you to figure out travel.
Our goats will need to be milked every afternoon/evening, at meal times. We would like you to arrive a couple of days before we leave so we can show you everything and to be sure you are confident with the animals routine and behaviors. You need to be confident handling animals as our goats and one of the dogs are quite large, but they are very friendly, are used to having visitors, and we never have behaviour problems with them. We have had house sitters four times in the last 3 years, for 2/3 weeks each, and they had no problems with the animals.
Do consider how well you handle the heat, as the Greek summer gets very intense, we do not have very good air con, and the heat means the animals (especially the chickens) do need to be observed carefully. Still it is fine to spend hours at the beach everyday, as long as you have ensured the animals all have plenty of water before you go.
Yes
Restrictions: We are open to discussing if you have a dog you want to bring. Obviously it will depend on their temperament and how calm they'll be in proximity to the hens/goats.

Great Experience
This was a great house sit, organic and wild so don't expect luxury. It was hard work for one person but enjoyable, better suited to a couple. The house was cosy and comfortable and all the animals were fab, it was great to see all their personalities with an abundance of laughs along the way. Very quiet and peaceful but with amenities nearby, though not a tourist town. I'd definitely would recommend coming here, and Annie and Evans were well organised with good instructions and guidance. Don't be worried about milking the goat, it was easy and a great experience. Thank you for letting me into your world. x
