About this assignment

We’re looking for a mature, settled and experienced couple who genuinely love dogs to care for our three much-loved terriers from 3rd December until late afternoon on 6th December.

This is first and foremost a dog sit – our three dogs are the priority. They are a wonderful trio: affectionate, friendly, fun and full of character, but they are also active, strong and very much terriers! ❤️

Buddy is our fun-loving young Lakeland who adores his ball and positive reassurance.
Dotty is adorable, endearing and a professional manipulator! 😂
Ted is our sensible, sensitive and gentle Border Terrier – generally quiet, although he has his own opinions about a few village dogs! 😂

They get very excited at the start of their walks and can be keen and strong for the first five minutes before settling into their stride. They must be kept on leads and can occasionally be reactive towards certain dogs locally, so confidence with dog behaviour and handling three terriers together is essential.

🏡 In return, you’ll have our comfortable modern detached home in peaceful Moorlinch on the Somerset Levels, with beautiful walks and stunning views on the doorstep, plus a lovely pub just 120 metres away.

We’re looking for a settled couple with a lifestyle of their own, who genuinely want to spend a few days enjoying the company of our dogs – not simply looking for free accommodation.

Own transport essential • Couple only • Unpaid sit

If you love dogs, enjoy walking and countryside, and think three lively terriers sound like great company, we’d love to hear from you! 🐾😊

Please DM with a little about yourselves and your experience with dogs.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Dog care, twice daily feeds & at least two good walks each day.
Keeping home clean & tidy
Watering plants in the home & garden
Keeping home secure
Putting out recycling and rubbish as necessary.
Please strip the beds and launder linens on the day you’re leaving :)
We ask that our home be left clean and cared for condition.

What are the good features of the property and location

We have a detached home, on a hillside within the village of Moorlinch and Somerset Levels, plus a local pub that's just 120 meters away at the foot of the hill which serves great food too!
We live in a very quiet area with access to wonderful walks with stunning views.
Explore the Somerset Levels in the glorious South West!
There are an array of interesting places to visit locally and regionally, i.e., Street, Glastonbury, Taunton, Bristol, Bath, Cheddar, Wells, Wiltshire and Dorset just an hours drive away!

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

We are offering a stay in our comfortable home in exchange for caring for our friendly, affectionate, energetic dogs that require two good walks a day come rain or shine. They have strong hunting instincts, therefore need to be kept on leads, as they have a tendency sometimes to have severe hearing loss!! Whilst these are small and medium sized terriers they are strong if they scent a rabbit or fox on walks - therefore experience, firmness and kindness are essential.

Being a semi-rural location a car is necesssry. Public transport runs Mon-Fri between 0800 and 4.00pm.

Can I bring my own pets?

No, sorry.

Testimonials

Moorlinch Terriers

Carla and Gerry are wonderful hosts living in a typical Somerset village with a fantastic Pub. They have 3 Terriers (1 Lakeland and 2 Patterdale) and being terriers they are bundles of endless energy when outside and only look for cuddles or bed inside. We had a great time with them but would have to say they are not for sitters looking for the quiet life.

A Somerset Gem!

We were so lucky to be selected to look after Carla and Garry’s lovely home and adorable dogs. We were made to feel at home right away. Communication was excellent. There are lots of nice walks nearby and lots of interesting sites in the region. The dogs are a delight and will want to go with you everywhere. Thanks to Carla and Garry and the gang for making our stay a wonderful experience Danka, Roy and Sophie
