House/ cat sitter needed 21st May - 1st June at gorgeous house in Bantry

About this assignment

Someone who is reliable, tidy, loves cats, and can happily take care of them. Our home is in a quiet country setting, 4km from Bantry town.

We would welcome a sitter arriving on 21 May, before 2pm. They are welcome to arrive the previous evening if that is more convenient.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Feed cats morning and evening, keep their water bowl clean and filled. Water outdoor plants in the conservatory just once during the week. Water the polytunnel daily. (Food in season can be eaten!) Keep place tidy and clean up before you leave.

What are the good features of the property and location

Nestled into 3 acres of partially wooded land, my home has a mature pond, meadow and lots of beautiful trees. It's beautifully quiet, and there is a cottage directly beside the house which is rented out on a long term basis, to a lovely woman and her son. The home has double glazing, all mod cons, TV, wifi, laundry room, woodstove, central heating, etc. Only 4 kms from Bantry and close to the beautiful Mealagh river which is a lovely place to walk.
Nearby is Glengarriff (25 minute drive) - gorgeous woodland walks and food truck park. Phosphorescent kayaking in Glengarriff Bay. Visit Garinish island. Ballydehob only 30 minutes drive; great restaurants and pubs there. Bantry House and Gardens in Bantry, recommended for visiting, walking. Friday market every week in Bantry; Saturday market in Skibbereen (45 minutes drive).

House sitter will have their own large room and own bathroom with bath, shower, etc.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

Should have own car to get into town for groceries/ explore further afield. The lane up to the house is a unpaved, but we manage to drive our regular sedan car up and down it by staying to one side of the grass median! The house is in a countryside location, so it's ideal for someone wanting a quiet retreat/ access to lots of Nature, birdsong and flowers.
