About this assignment
We are looking for a single person or couple (non-smoking) to stay in our house and care for our two mature cats for approximately eight days this coming May.
What responsibilities are required of the house sitter
Primarily caring for the cats and watering interior plants and possibly greenhouse and some outdoor plants. The cats are indoor only- litter boxes will need to be cleaned each day, cats are to be fed twice each day and regularly brushed. They do not require any medication.
What are the good features of the property and location
We are walking distance to Kinsale (8 minute walk)- a lovely harbor town in the southwest of Ireland. Our house is a bungalow on a cul-de-sac in a friendly housing estate. We have a large garden surrounding the house, a greenhouse and a veranda at the rear.
What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment
May can be a beautiful time to visit Ireland. Although usually cool and wet, there are normally more dry days than earlier in the year. There will be plenty to do in and around Kinsale. Our garden and greenhouse will be in full bloom. In May, the greenhouse will need some attention to watering. The house has under-floor heating and will be warm and cosy.

Wonderful stay in beautiful Kinsale with Moira and Mario
I've spent almost 3 weeks in the home of Kathleen and Ernest with wonderful Moira and Mario, siblings that could not be more different :) Both cats are very easy and affectionate, though Mario needs a little more time to warm up to new person. Both are also very low maintenance. The house is spacious, very comfortable and conveniently situated, not in dead centre of the town, but within a short walk. Kinsale is a gorgeous town with great transportation options to Cork and nearby towns. Kathleen and Ernest prepared a detailed "Guest book" not only with everything I needed to know to make my stay comfortable both for cats and me, but also with comprehensive information about everything that there is to see in Kinsale and the area. I highly recommend the stay for everyone who wants to taste Ireland in comfortable conditions and great feline company!

A wonderful week in Kinsale
Kathleen and Ernest made us very welcome in their lovely comfortable home. We enjoyed the company of Moira and Mario, such gentle cats. They were slow to trust us but then Moira happily curled up on our knees by day 2. Mario liked his stroking and attention. Both cats enjoyed being groomed. Minding them was a pleasure and very straightforward. Watering the plants and greenhouse was no hardship. Those tomatoes were a sight to behold. Kinsale is a lovely town with a beautiful setting. When sightseeing around the town we walked everywhere. The two forts are incredible and the other town walks were most enjoyable. In between exploring the local area we drove along the coast to some fabulous beaches and through beautiful scenery. The food was excellent and the pubs very enjoyable. All in all it was a week that flew in. Thank you so much Kathleen and Ernest.
