Dependable, responsible and compassionate. My pets dont need a lot but they love people and cuddles. For this reason they would not do well in a boarding situation.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Basic care of 2 small dogs and 1 cat. They appreciate walks, but fenced in yard is large enough for some exercise. No medications involved, just daily vitamins. Watering of some potted plants on front and rear decks, all close to existing hoses.

What are the good features of the property and location

In a quiet and safe area. Spacious decks on front and rear, lift on rear deck (house is raised 9ft due to its proximity to the Abita River). Abita is known for its artesian wells from which the many varieties of Abita beer are brewed, the brewery is less than a mile away. It’s a friendly and laid back “Mayberry” feeling community, with a modern and artistic vibe, small but near to anything you might need. Well known in the metro area for its many festivals. Walking distance to a great locally owned grocery, brew pub/restaurant, Abita beer brewery, pizza restaurant, produce stand and Sunday Farmers market. A paved 27 mile bike trail also. Lots of kayaking, fishing and birdwatching opportunities, 1-2 hours to Mississippi Gulf Coast beaches yet just an hour from New Orleans.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

It is officially hurricane season here, however I will have a contingency plan that would allow for evacuation and emergency pet care, relieving any sitter from that responsibility. I will not be leaving until the afternoon of the 25th but if someone prefers to get here a day earlier, I would provide a hotel room at a very cute local hotel.
