About this assignment
We hope for someone to care for and adore are pets like we do, they are our family! We give a lot of time to our animals and hope for you to enjoy long dog walks with Bowie and playing in the garden with him.
What responsibilities are required of the house sitter
Twice daily walks with Bowie our dog. Patience and cuddles with GT our old ginger tomcat. Keep house tidy. Driving is necessary as the island is quiet in winter months and the local shops close for a few months. A car will be provided.
What are the good features of the property and location
Beautiful island home. Log burner and heating in the winter. AC in the summer. Full Entertainment system. Great animals to look after! Swimming pool. Outdoor BBQ and dining/lounge area. Beautiful indoor/outdoor living space. Views out over the Mediterranean Sea. Double bedroom with private bathroom.
What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment
Menorca can be quiet in winter months. It’s very beautiful without many tourists Oct-March. Use of a car provided as driving is required. Bowie is a rescue dog (we got him at 2). He is now around 5 years old. He requires a lot of exercise and attention. He can be a little frightened sometimes, but with reassurance he is a great walking buddy. A handover period of a day and night would be good to ‘settle’ house minders with the dog. Also to get a run through of how the household works.

Perfect house and petsit
Janey and Keith are a delightful couple and their three rescued pets Bowie the dog, and Flaco and GT the cats are great characters who are a pleasure to look after. Bowie the Australian Shepherd dog made us welcome and entertained us from morning to night. He is possibly the best goalkeeper in the world, and very friendly and easy to look after. All the pets stayed calm and relaxed. Keith met us at the airport, and Janey had made us some tortilla as it was fairly late in the evening. They are both kind, considerate and generous. The next day they fed us and showed us round the house and local area, Keith had prepared a folder of detailed information about the house and dog walks. As well as taking us out to eat they introduced us to local friends so we had contacts. Janey showed us where everything was in the house and the feeding regime for the pets and we did a couple of local walks with her. We were quite sorry when they went on holiday. However we had a marvellous time as the pets were a pleasure to spend time with and look after. The villa and gardens are lovely and easy to keep clean and care for. Colin also cleaned and looked after the pool. Janey kept in touch daily and we sent updates and photos of what the pets were up to and any little concerns and she was most appreciative and encouraging. We took great care with the pets especially Bowie as he has had a complex operation to one hind leg and while he is very active, it needs to be watched over to ensure it's not overstrained. We looked after everything including the car and tried to leave it exactly as we found it. When Keith and Janey returned, we had an evening together and went out for dinner and feel we have made great friends with them and their lovely little animal family. Thank you both so much, and we would love to come again!
