Farmhouse near Fougères in Brittany- Mid September 2025- Mid December 2025

About this assignment

We are an English/ American couple who own a large farmhouse and small microbrewery in eastern Brittany. We will be travelling and need a reliable house sitter to take care of our chickens (5) and ducks (4). We have four bedrooms available and are open to singles, couples or family sits.
We are looking for an individual, couple or family who are tidy and respectful as we have neighbors nearby. Looking for person(s) who will care for our animals and garden as if they were their own.
If you are inclined to gardening all the better!
We have lovely accommodation and a fully equipped chef's kitchen.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Check on the chickens and ducks daily. They have an automatic feeder and electric door but need to have the water checked daily and the food refilled periodically.
Water the house plants, greenhouse and exterior potted plants as needed. If you are up for gardening there is always work to be done!

What are the good features of the property and location

We are only a 10 minute drive from the town of Fougeres. A historical city with a médiéval chateau. Our accommodation is spacious and appointed as a B&B as we often have visitors. We have a great kitchen as we are both chefs. We have fibre wifi throughout the property which is suitable for virtual nomads. We do not have standard telvision but do have a roku where you can access all your streaming channels, netflix, apple TV prime video, youtube and many more.
We are in the countryside but very close to all the amenities. Fougères is a good sized town and only 10KM away. Supermarket, cinema, bowling, art galleries and several good bars and restaurants. There is also an alimentation in our next door village (2KM).
We are 30-40 minutes from Mont Saint Michel and about an hour and 15 from St. Malo. This is a beautiful home base to explore Brittany.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

Having your own car would be ideal as the house is located in a small hamlet outside the village. We do not allow smoking in the house. If you agree to the sit it must be for the entirety as we will be out of the country.
