About this assignment
Catperson, not afraid of large terrain outside, trustworthy, reliable, in possession of own transport. We live in the countryside, very rural, but near 2 villages. One of our cats is very territorial, so it is not a good idea to bring your own pets.
What responsibilities are required of the house sitter
Feed and pet the cats and maintain the house. You will have your own guest apartment on the premises. Keep everything tidy and clean and no wild parties.
What are the good features of the property and location
In the South of France, Mediterranean side, near the Spanish border, we live on a mas (small farm, but we have no farming activities). So a nice house in the middle of 2,7 hectare of land. There is a fully equiped guest apartment in the house for you available.
What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment
You'll need your own transport. It is possible to ride a bike to the nearest village with facilities like shops, etc. but it is easier if you have a car. It is not possible to borrow a car from us.
Can I bring my own pets?

There are people with whom I connect almost instantly, just as if I had known them for ever - Linda and Patrick belong to that "group" (which is very small). Their house, Mas Linda, is just like them, charming, well organized (but not too much), alive and sitting in a beautiful setting, remote (but not too much, a car is very useful), and then, last but certainly NOT least are the 4 cats. All with their only personality. Nunja: caring (5 mice as presents), Isabella: talking, doesn't like to be alone, Dropje: the queen, aloof and independent, Lion: outside cat, shy but accessible We, the cats and I, had good 14 days and I'll come back in February. Lovely house in a beautiful natural setting
4 very different cats quickly accepted us even though one enjoyed hissing when she wanted to be left alone by us or by the other cats. At daily well organised food distribution time, everybody was happy and accepted to be patted. We enjoyed the terrasses and surroundings of the well situated house, Linda and her husband made sure that we had everything necessary to be comfortable. Thank you, we will come back with pleasure.

Wonderful sit with fine characterful cats!
What a lovely time we had here; with cats full of character, and a peaceful and beautiful home to enjoy as well! Linda and Patrick were so kind and friendly, and after a welcoming lunch everything was explained to us. The cats are really interesting - each one with a quite definite character - we got to know each one pretty well in just a couple of days. Nonja and Isabella were soon seeking us out for attention and company, and Dropje and Lion were soon happy to be around with us also. The house is beautiful, and in a great location, with pretty mountain and coastal villages easy to drive to. You'll definitely need a car though. We loved exploring, and equally, we loved returning to the house to enjoy the sunny terraces and the cosy living areas. A very big thanks to Linda and Patrick, and we'd definitely return if dates worked out!

Mas Linda
Rond Kerst 2023 hebben wij op onze reis naar Spanje op de 3 lieve poezen Isabelle, Nonja en Dropje en de kater Lion van Linda en Patrick gepast in een fantastisch landhuis bij Elne, in de buurt van Perpignan. De toegangsweg met een tunnel is zeer bijzonder. Maar na zo'n 100 meter openbaart zich het mooie landhuis. De ontvangst was allerhartelijkst en er was sprake van een goede wederzijdse verstandhouding en interesses. Wij hadden ons eigen ruime appartement aan de achterzijde van het huis met een groot terras. De locatie is perfect voor als je de route du Soleil rijdt. Daarbij komt dat Elne alles biedt qua boodschappen. Vanuit Elne kun je heel goed Perpignan bezoeken. Ook sta je na 4 km rijden aan de Middellandse zee. Dus zon, zee, strand en terrasjes zijn makkelijk bereikbaar en bij terugkomst ben je weer in een bosachtige omgeving. Wat wil je nog meer? Tijdens het oppassen hebben we regelmatig kontakt gehouden via Whattsapp. Bedankt, Linda en Patrick, we hopen in de toekomst terug te komen.

Housesitting 3 October - 12 October 2023
I had the chance to housesit for Linda and Patrick and to look after their 5 cats in the wonderful area of Roussillon in South-France. Linda and Patrick are very nice and warmhearted people and I felt comfortable immediately. They picked me up at the trainstation of Elne. I got the necessary informations by mail already before, now they explained me things at the place. We had contact by whatsapp during their travel as well, so I could clarify everything immediately. I got to know the cats in the next days and I enjoyed their company so much. Each one has its own personality. Some accepted me as their temporary friend and enjoyed my cuddles. One was mainly happy about the food, I offered and Dropje was not ready for any kind of friendship with me, she accepted the food, but was waiting for the return of her REAL friend Linda! :-)) The house ist big and I had my own holiday-appartement at the backside. The surrounding was peaceful and calm, the songs of the birds were lovely, the climat very enjoyable. It is necessary to have a car or like in my case a bike, as the house ist in the countryside. The road to Elne or Ortaffa ist well tarred and very suitable for bikes. I felt free to make little excursions during daytime. Back from my discoverings, I enjoyed the evenings on the bench in front of the house with a cup of coffee and Isabella, sitting beside me or Nonja, lying on my labs. Dear Linda and Patrick, I thank you so much for these amazing 10 days, I could spend in your house and for the company of your kind cats. Thank you for the wonderful dinner, Patrick prepared the first evening and the invitation to a nice restaurant the last evening of my stay due to my birthday.
