About this assignment

I'm looking for somebody who is responsible, reliable, honest and who loves and connects with animals. A sense of adventure would be great as well to appreciate the beautiful landscape of the west coast of Ireland.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

The main responsibility would be to feed and take care of my two cats. They are very easy going and can come and go through a cat flap as they like. They are independent, but do love and need human company.

What are the good features of the property and location

My property is a semi-detached house with lovely and helpful neighbours on both sides. It is located in a quaint historic town on the west coast of Ireland, in Co. Clare. There is wifi, a garden, a guest bedroom and full bathroom for the housesitter. Walking distance to pubs (one of them with a micro-brewery), shops, the church and bus stop. Close to the coast (by bus or car) and to bigger towns and cities.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

This is not city centre Dublin, so it is a bit quieter than that. There is no urban distraction in the town itself, like cinemas or theatres, but there is traditional live music.

There is a guest bedroom for one person, so this is a house sit suitable for one.

Can I bring my own pets?

No, sorry.

Outstanding host and adorable cats

Karin invited me to Housesit right away. From the very beginning and all the way through communication was excellent. She was quickly responsive to all messages, questions, or concerns. She invited me to come early and was so generous to allow me to stay late as my flight was several days later. Karin has a lovely home, very clean and well organized with everything one could need. The two cats became my best friends and I was deeply touched when they trusted me and snuggled with me and crawled under the covers at night. Karin also took me shopping before she left so I had everything I needed. Lisdoonvarna is a small town, but it has a couple shops and a pharmacy and easy bus service to other areas to explore and enjoy. I’m very grateful for the opportunity to sitay with Puisin and Snarty, and still miss them. Thank you for everything. It was a great gift.

Warm welcome!

It was more like visiting a friend than doing a housesit. Karin picked me up from the bus station, treated me to dinner, went shopping with me and showed me some sights before leaving. We stayed in touch and she answered any questions I had very quickly via WhatsApp. It is definitely a stay for cat lovers as the three furry housemates will keep you company as soon as they get used to you. They are easy to look after as they will tell you when it's time for a treat or a cuddle. As I was there in winter I really appreciated the electric blanket in my bed. Very cosy. The Irish landscape and nature is breathtaking and Lisdoonvarna a good place if you want to discover the Burren. A car would be useful to get around. I had a very nice stay indeed!
