What are the good features of the property and location

Beautiful home and mountain setting. Immediate access to national forest and trails. 20 minutes to Albuquerque and 1 hour to Santa Fe. Very peaceful setting and very friendly neighborhood. Clean and uncluttered home. Outdoor hot tub.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

Even though this home is close to a city it is still rural living. Attention to wildlife, low water and energy use, and wildfire are all important. Those with an appreciation for my home, gentle dog and outdoor surroundings are a good match,

Departure date is 9/6. Return date is 11/30. I ask housesitters to arrive at least day or two ahead of time to allow for orientation and time for Romeo to become comfortable with you.

Can I bring my own pets?

Yes
Restrictions: I am willing to consider another dog. I don't think a cat would be safe with my dog.

Wonderful Experience!

This was our first official house/pet sit, and what a great first experience it was! Firstly, I couldn't possibly say enough nice things about Judy! She was such a warm & welcoming host who we immediately felt a great connection with! I, unfortunately, fell very ill just a day or two after we arrived at her house, was sick in bed for almost two weeks, and quarantined myself in the guest room. She was so kind and supportive, making sure I had some good medicine and that I was as comfortable as I could be. Her trip plans had unexpectedly changed so we were with her for about a week, and we both felt so comfortable as her guests. She let us know in advance about her trip being delayed and gave us the option to change our arrival date or arrive as planned and stay with her - we're glad we decided to stick to the original plan! Next is Judy's dog, Romeo...oh my goodness, we fell in love with this big soft boy! Such a sweet natured love bug and so easy to care for. He had a routine that was easy to follow, he was quiet, barking only when people came to the gate or walked past when he was outside, he listened well and was such a good boy! He was a real joy to spend time with, hiking and playing out in the yard. Which brings me to Judy's lovely home. One of the best features was the many hiking trails right out the front door, my husband might say the hot tub :-D We are avid walkers and we loved getting out on the trails everyday with Romi. The house was also easy to maintain & care for, very warm, tidy, and comfortable, and in a great location. Cedar Crest is a lovely community just 15 minutes from Albuquerque, but we found the local supermarket and a few good restaurants to be within reasonable walking distance. Also, Judy provided a folder with very detailed information & instructions, from how appliances worked, to Romeo's daily routine, what to do and who to call in certain situations and/or emergencies, and general info about the local area. She made the house sit and Romeo's care completely stress-free! I hope we are lucky enough to come back someday :-) Thank you Judy & Romeo, for the warm hospitality!!

Wonderful housesit, great dog, nice neighbors…

I completed an extremely pleasant eight-week house and dog sit for Judy in Cedar Crest this past summer. The house is more than comfortable, spacious and easy to keep tidy. Romeo is a great, gentle dog – a perfect match if you like to walk and hike. He was very easy to care for, with simple and quick meal routines. The best part was his infectious enthusiasm and energy: plenty to get me up and moving each morning. After a very quick breakfast (his) we’d usually take in one of the beautiful National Forest trails that are accessible just steps away from the front door. He’s also happy to walk in the forested neighborhood, with lots of quiet streets to explore. Judy was very friendly and a real pleasure to get to know. She thoroughly explained the needs and routines of both Romeo and her home. She also introduced me to several neighbors and provided contacts for others. All were extremely friendly. I spoke directly with several while out and about, once ending up with a large container of dessert. (That wasn’t really on my diet, but it doesn’t count when you’re housesitting. Right?) Judy was also quickly available via text, email or phone to answer any questions that came up. In fact, we routinely traded photos during the sit: her travel adventures and my hikes with Romeo, as well as lots of pictures of the beautiful nature scenes I found in the forest, neighborhood and even her garden. The location, to me, was perfect. Her quiet neighborhood at the foot of a mountain and National Forest sits within a mile or two of a well stocked grocery, a hardware store, post office and a really nice variety of restaurants and shops.
