About this assignment
Looking for somebody who loves animals and likes to spend some time close to some of the best beaches in the world. Great for somebody who loves island life, animals and different cultures.
What responsibilities are required of the house sitter
Take care of our large 3-bedroom house on the western side of Anguilla, when we are travelling. The house is located in walking distance to some of the best beaches on the island (about 10-15 minutes walk to Maunday's Bay, Shoal Bay West. Meads Bay and other beaches are just a 5 minutes drive. Many restaurants and the biggest supermarket in Anguilla are also within 5 minutes drive. The most important task is to take care of our 3 lovely dogs (all local island dogs we adopted over time). There is a large gated yard, but it does not really need work. We will have more pictures of the inside of the house after we move in end of October. We plan to have some herbs and other plants in pots on one of three different porches, so keeping them happy would be great. And yes, please share with us some pics of the island and our dogies once a while, we miss our love-bugs already now.
What are the good features of the property and location
It is a large, local 3-bedroom house with a/c, right in the middle of West end on the Island of Anguilla, includes high speed internet, so perfect to work online. Has 55" TV with Netflix, Hulu etc, all essentials are available in the house. A car (black Honda CRV) is available to use to get around the island and to shop. We have also beach chairs and umbrellas to explore the many beaches Anguilla has to offer. Great to enjoy Anguilla for an extended time.
What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment
Need to be reliable and trustworthy and love dogs. Best if you are 2 persons so you can enjoy the time together and you can walk the dogs for about 10 minutes in the morning and in the evening. As we intend to travel regularly and more often in 2026, it would be perfect for somebody who has interest over a longer period.

Great housesit in Anguilla!
We had a terrific time this summer housesitting for Rolf and Viviane and taking care of their three adorable dogs! Each day began with walking the dogs at 7am followed by their morning feeding, and then another walk and feeding at about 6pm. In between, we were free to hang out in the house with the dogs, go spend time out on the beautiful Meads Bay beach, or explore other places on Anguilla. We did a fair amount of all three, and very much enjoyed all of our experiences during our two months on the island. Rolf and Viviane were very generous in letting us use their car while we were there, which made it easy to access the many places on the island we visited. They also arranged to have beach chairs and umbrellas reserved for us at the Carimar resort, so it was very convenient for us to spend time on the beach and enjoy the beautiful Caribbean water. The opportunity for a daily swim in the ocean was definitely one of the highlights of our time in Anguilla. Taking care of the dogs was very easy, and we fell in love with all of them. The aptly named Gently is the oldest and maybe the mellowest, and doesn’t want much more than to be near you, either next to you on the sofa or on the floor at your feet. Although he is pretty passive at home, Gently is more active on the walks, looking for anything that might be edible! Winnie loves attention, and also tends to lay nearby in the hopes of getting a little love and affection. He is probably the most active on the walks, meandering side to side looking for anything interesting to smell. Kao, the youngest and smallest, is maybe the most chill of the three. He definitely likes to be petted, but seems a little more indifferent about it than the other two. He seems much more directed and determined on the walks, and as one man commented upon watching us walking the three dogs one day, Kao walks like he’s the boss! The three dogs all get along well – Winnie and Kao are fond of licking each other, and both of them like to lick Gently, who is not as keen to reciprocate! Rolf and Viviane were readily available to answer any questions we had that came up, and their daughter Moira, who lives on the island, was also very helpful in providing information and suggestions regarding things we needed or wanted to get done. But all in all, this was a very easy housesit, there were no real challenges we had to address, and we are very grateful to the Masshardts for giving us the opportunity to relax and enjoy island life for this much time!

Top notch hospitality
Rolf and Viviane were exemplary hosts from day one. The pre arrangements they made for our stay were excellent. Our accommodation was comfortable and our time on the amazing beach was really first class. And the dogs were just so loveable, individual characters but protective of each other. In no time at all we were enjoying each others company on the settee cuddled up together. As usual we looked for some projects to keep us active and we enjoyed transforming some uncontrolled foliage around the property which was challenging but so rewarding. We met some lovely people. The weather was for the most part very hot and humid and the Ocean was warm. There was a lot of early evening activity in the water with fish jumping out of the water in shoals trying to avoid the diving sea birds looking for their supper. All in all a very enjoyable assignment. Thank you Rolf and Viviane for a lovely experience.
