Dog is 14 and cat is 18 - both very sweet
Kind, honest, liberal responsible human who loves nature and pets. I have one dog and one cat. My home is in the county and garbage and recycling need to be taken out. We have composting on site.
Feed and care for 2 pets - dog/cat door so no cat litter - both pets come and go. Take care of house. There is a pond with fish who need to be fed a few times a week. There is a hot tub so you will need to add some chemicals occasionally.
Very private yet close to hiking trails, single track bike trails, rivers, the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and the city of Knoxville, TN., The house has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, lots of porch space (covered and uncovered), an extra strawbale house/play house. Large fenced yard. Home is on 20 acres.
The dog is 74 pounds- very sweet, but afraid of thunder storms and fireworks or gunshots. The house is down a long driveway and private from neighbors. A car would be helpful, but with planning Uber or Lift etc. can be used. You will need to take out your garbage and recycling, but we will tell you where to take it. We are Vegetarian and ask you not to cook meat in our pots and pans, but we don’t care if you eat meat. The pets do.
No, sorry.

Knox rocks! Three weeks of ease and comfort in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains.
For my years of house sitting around the country (and a bit beyond) I’ve always been selective about timing and locations. This one came up as a perfect fit - relatively new area to me but I knew of the beauty of the area and that Knoxville had a vibrant music and food scene. What I didn’t know was how much better-than-perfect Terrin and Billy’s home and pets would make this assignment. Although I did get out for a considerable amount of music - with Downtown being only an easy 15-minute drive away - many evenings I was more than happy to hang out at their beautiful ridge top home and simply enjoy. The peace. The wildlife. The space. The stars. The walks with sweet Nola (Hey, we all make mistakes occasionally. I’m sure that the broken water pipe was not intentional!). The selective attention of Floyd. The night fire pit time in their company. All of this and being welcomed into their community of wonderful friends over the three-week stay. As with all the best places my travels take me to, this is a place I left with a longer to-do list than I arrive with. And I look forward to returning to do that again. Terrin and Billy have created a special place and I’m grateful for being able to step into it and sit quietly for awhile.
