About this assignment

Variable dates - this is not for a while year ! Sorry , we had to put specific dates in

We mostly need someone for our " winter sit" every two years ( ( probably this year , but dates undecided , oct- March or Nov-Apr)
We are hoping to do housesits ourselves throughout the summer ,and early fall, so need people throughout the summe, which is the best time to visit here as well
We have a fairly big garden so lots of plant watering , veggie and oramental but otherwise very easy 2 cat care .

We are always looking for interesting housesits ourselves ,,( have done 5 sits, with reviews elsewhere , and sometimes need folks in short notice ..
We are both retired and work from home hence the flexibility .
If you have questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
It is very nice here , close to beach and Sussex national Park , until November when it can get rather chilly and rainy . We have central heating and a small wood stove stove .
We have two cats ,both independent and easy to look after, and have a lots of plants to water so hopefully you care about plants and gardens and don't mind watering ,.Watering would take less time then walking a dog and is not a daily maintenance except for checking if plants need watering so a walk around the garden daily to check plants and also lots of succulents inside the small conservatories .
As long, if you would like to go away for a night or two just let us know in enough time to ask out neighbor to care for kitties .thank you !
It can get very wet and damp here in Dec - Feb but sometimes nice. we never get severely flooded but garden gets very wet. Central heating is old but have extra heaters and auxiliary wood stove in living room if needed. Responsibilities are much easier in winter since you would only be watering indoor plants
There are two major cons in the Winter months ,- the boiler is temperamental and turns off about once a week when it is used alot ( cold weather)! It requires someone to.go up and turn the taps back on for a minute , after climbing up a pull down loft ladder, (not very steep ) .it's a simple procedure and always wbut it is a pain to have it turn off and the house will feel slightly cold for a short while . Tht heat then comes back within minutes and heats up.pretty quickly . Obviously we would go through the technique with you thoroughly . In addition, we have boiler insurance so a engineer will come quite promptly if there is any problem ( normally not needed )
Another con is that we have a muddy drive when it rain in winter, puddly . You can park directly in front of house if it's very bad . We are semi rural yet close to all amenities, with pub and bus stop very close .
Otherwise it's pretty cosy, esp with the wood stove as back up . The dining room is a unheated conservatory but heats up with a electric heater within half a hour , or you are welcome to eat in the living room .

CATS ; The house sitter should enjoy cats and plants and be patient with an older cat who can be a little hard to get to know and occasionally will lightly nip and give you claws only if you try to cuddle her ( so not recommended - but don't be too afraid, she never " attacks," lol ) But once you get to know her she is sweet but still grumpy and very playful and loves lsps- of her choosing ?? Lola is younger and much easier , and loves , even demands, a lap in the evening . They will.probqbly end up on your bed , altho Lola sometimes goes out adventuring at night . Two to three feeds a day as and when ,and light kitty litter cleaning .
GARDEN :in tht winter, no garden maintenance needed . The house and garden are about 100 x 70 .
There are lovely sunsets as our house bs is into a field. We only have two other neighbors .very peaceful and close to good shops and Arundel is a lovely village plus more quiant villages close by. Onlyb an hour to Brighton and 2 to London as well

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

-for both sits: Feed and" water " kitties two- three times a day .two is fine if out for day .
In summer -Water plants inside and out side.Only inside in winter
Prefer someone who knows plants and enjoys gardening but not essential, mostly watering !
- Clean poo out of kitty litter every day or so- esp if it's hot .put in toilet clean litter when it gets wet or smells . Cats will let you it's time by pooing outside tht box .??
Play with cats occasionally
Leave house and garden as neat as you found it .( Garden not that neat lol)

Feel free to ask any questions about cats or garden or anything
Take trash bins to end of lane once a week or two

What are the good features of the property and location

-Private and good sized garden
-Barbecue outside and several places to sit.
-Friendly neighbors and a place to park , either in dtivrv100 yards away or close to house
-Nice sunsets almost every evening from deck or field behind house.
Birdsong and trees in garden. Will leave bird food, would love for you to feed .
Wifi and streaming services.
low maintenance cats
-2 miles from nice beach and harbour and lots of other beaches and walks nearby ( car useful but buses to beach and can walk to littlehampton beach altho 40 minutes ))You are welcome to bring bikes .
Close to Arundel ( several resteraunts ,pubs castle , galleries ) and Chichester ,( cathedral) lovely towns nearby and south Downs national park, Brighton,( great shopping, resteraunts ) Lewes , ( castle ) lots of lovely quiant villages pubs , resteraunts and gardens within 15- 40 minutes away .lots of lovely villages within driving distance
Closest town Littlehampton, seaside town with small downtown. several supermarkets in area and one walking distance, bus stop a few hundred yards from our house . Littlehampton " "meh" ?Arundel also nice Car not needed but recommended for sightseeing depending on interests.
Two Train stations 2 miles from house

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

Must love cats and plants .you must be a bit tolerant of the boiler situation and not mind puddles ( for winter sit, in case you have to park in drive )
The dates for the winter sit might change slightly ( same general range ) Dec 8-15 or so , an sometimes we arrive back a bit later by a week or two and it would be nice if the sitter could be flexible but if not we may be able to get help.from neighbors .
End of novel!

Can I bring my own pets?

No, sorry.
