On the Guadalupe River in the Texas Hill country

About this assignment

We are looking for a house sitter who will take very good care of our two cats. We are not expecting the house sitter to perform any housekeeping chores.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

The primary responsibility will be routine care of two cats: feeding, cleaning up after them and a little bit of play time. These cats were feral kittens and are still somewhat shy. They will probably hide for the first few days.

I would also ask the sitters to check on the plants. Most of the ones outside are on a drip system and I have just a few in the house.

What are the good features of the property and location

Our house is on the Guadalupe River just downstream from Canyon Lake. We are about 13 miles from New Braunfels and Gruene and halfway between Austin and San Antonio. Canyon Lake is the perfect spot from which to explore the Texas Hill Country. There are amazing state parks within an hours drive.

Canyon Lake is very close; the dam is a favorite walk and there is a nature trail nearby. Canyon Lake Gorge was created by the flood of 2002. It is accessible only by guided tour and would be too hot to attempt during the summer. A rim trail is available; it is self guided.

Landa Park in New Braunfels is a favorite place to hike, swim in the spring fed pool and picnic.

We have two kayaks, a canoe and several tubes that can be used right from our property. We are just above ‘the horseshoe,’ a favorite for tubers.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

. We are in a somewhat rural area; the sitters will need to provide their own transportation. There is a pharmacy, small grocery store, bank , hardware store and gas station within a mile or two. . We have several good restaurants. New Braunfels is booming and there are larger stores, hospitals and good restaurants in town.
