I have 6 cats and 2 dogs, who have been rescued from the streets. They are incredibly friendly, cuddly and obedient. Some of the cats have a different diet than the others but it is easy to explain and then coordinate meal time according to the instr
What I look for in a house sitter is:
- Responsibility in the care of my pets, my house and my garden.
- Good communication anytime you need, and in the event I need it too
- Honesty
- Reciprocal respect
The responsability that the house sitter will bear:
- Caring with dedication and love for my animals
- If you notice that some of them change their attitude or stop eating or look weird, please contact me or the veterinarian who is in the shelter
- Keep the house in good condition, as well as the garden
The property is a big, comfortable and ventilated house in the middle of the jungle, surrounded by a garden full of tropical plants and fruit trees. These together with a small veggie garden have been planted throughout the years to create a natural environment for the local fauna. It is located in a quiet and safe area close to a small village called Solferino, where you can find tiny shops, some comedores, a pharmacy and transportation to head out to the tropical island of Holbox or other touristic sites. You can enjoy nature by visiting different nearby lagoons such as El Corchal, San Angel lagoon and Nativa Park. It is also one of the preferred routes for hundreds of migratory birds, tucans and parrots.
What the house sitter has to consider before applying is that here we are in a very quiet place, full of nature, far from the chaos of the city.
My animals are my family and I need them to be taken care of very well, as well as the house and the garden that I have created. They are all I have and cherish.
This space is suitable for conscious people who want to take care of the environment and who love nature.
No, sorry.

House sitting for Giulia
I had the pleasure of taking care of Giulia's lovely home and her abundance of sweet pets. Her home is located in the jungle near a small village of Solferino which is about 2 hours from Cancun. Though it's small it still has everything you'll need to survive. The locals are friendly and even if your Spanish isn't great you can still muddle through. Make sure to bring pesos as that is the only currency there. As far as the village is concerned, there isn't much to do but driving around town and taking pictures or just enjoying the culture is nice. The jungle is extremely JUNGLEY! That means lots of incredible wildlife and flora. The humidity is intense and the rain is spectacular. Make sure you're okay with all matter of insects. I found out the hard way that I'm incredibly allergic to everything that bites. That was my only real complaint. The cats and dogs each require individual diets twice a day and once you get it down it's pretty easy. They all have very interesting, sweet, lovely, and quirky personalities. There is a terrific selection of things to eat that grows on her property! The internet is pretty much perfect- the only time it ever isn't is if on the off chance the power goes out but that usually isn't for very long. Do be ready for cold showers and water has to be filled once a week from a pump but Miguel is a very nice guy that comes to deal with that. The bed is nice and cozy! There's a bathroom right next to the bedroom so that's convenient. The washing machine is handy and clothes dry very quickly in the warm climate when hung to dry. If you enjoy peace and quiet then you'll enjoy your stay. The jungle is magic and just walking along the dirt roads is such a gift. Giulia is wonderful with communication so you never have to worry about that. Not only did I learn about myself through this often challenging housesit, (the bug bites), I gained a true friend. Giulia is a very intelligent, warm, open and inviting person who is easy to talk to and just a wonderfully cosmic lady who truly was put on earth to care for animals. She's just as special as her little piece of heaven in the Jungle!
