About this assignment

A responsible, pet loving couple with a sense of adventure but still like a luxurious surrounding. Our beautiful home is primarily one level except for the pool deck. Lush gardens with lovely Pacific Ocean unobstructed sunsets, mountain views, and a jungle tree line surround our gated, three bedroom casa. Enjoy the birds and monkeys from the terrace. Sip a morning beverage looking up a the Talamanca mountains. Large, pristine rainforest is the backyard.
Access to a 4x4 vehicle is strongly recommended. Our home is not in walking distance to public transportation and/or markets.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

- Pet sitting for a calm three year old dog who gets morning and afternoon walks.
- Three cats that live indoor but litter outside (No litterbox duties.) Generally they remain aloof and are not aggressive. They present an occasional frog or gecko. Eat dry kibble with a feeder. They are low maintenance and have no health issues.
- Skim the top of the pool and add weekly puck chemicals.
- Light housekeeping to sweep the floors and clean the countertops.

What are the good features of the property and location

- Outdoor and indoor eating area. Full kitchen, completely furnished with small appliances, dishes, and cooking utensils.
- Lovely private pool with outdoor shower, lounge chairs and palm trees. The view of Playa Uvita and the famous Whales Tail is seen twice a day during low tides.
- Proximity to numerous beaches includind the Marina Ballena National Park.
- Ojochal, Uvita and Dominical are infamous for some of the best restaurants in Costa Rica.
- Easy access to a nine hole golf course and pickleball courts.
- Several supermarkets within 20 minutes as well as a gourmet food shop in Ojochal village.
- Ojochal is a rich mixture of Costa Rican, Canadian, and US expats. Ross and Jan have lived in the US, Canada, and now for many years in CR.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

The house is 900M above sea level. A 4x4 vehicle is needed to access the property.
There is both a security system and a gate but the property is not on a main road. There are three houses nearby that are occupied full time. Enjoying some privacy will make your stay easier.
Rainy season is from April to mid December with the heavier rains mid - August through mid - December. There is a likelihood of electrical outages ranging from one to eight hours.
Fallen trees will interrupt the internet. It's wise to have an international cell plan for those times when the cable is broken.
A security gate adds extra protection along with security cameras outside the home. Rufus, our dog will bark alerts but is not aggressive to strangers.
