About this assignment

Dependable, good communication, experience with dogs and cats. Must have vehicle. Keeping an eye on property. It’s a truly wonderful property as it is a slice of heaven. We also have horses but have someone on the property that looks after them. Always nice to have back up though so if you have horse experience that would be great but not required. Our long journey starts 1/4/26 but also gone 12/20/25-12/27/25 also. So the housesitting could start 12/19/25 or 1/3/26.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Dogs - walk Tater and Tottie twice a day. We have a mile+ trail right on the property for walking the dogs. Cat usually follows too! Cat loves to cuddle in the morning but is pretty independent. Feed dogs and cat twice a day. Occasionally clean out litter box. Spending time with dogs is important. They are loving, not barkers, not chewers, they like company.

What are the good features of the property and location

57 very private, pristine acres. Hiking trail around property that is over a mile long, orchard, a beautiful mix of woods and fields. We have grounds keeper on site 4 days a week. Private guest house for house sitter. You will have a beautiful view of pastures and horses. Dogs have large fenced in yard.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

We live about 15 minutes drive to town of Burnsville. Cute town, great grocery store, farmers market, restaurants. Also about 20 minutes to Spruce Pine. This area has many local artists, galleries and studios, waterfalls, clean swimming river, and hiking. About 50 minutes to Asheville- an amazing small city filled with art, breweries and concerts, etc. We are at 2800' elevation so it can be wintery. Tends to warm up during the day and many days of sunshine. Beautiful large deck to get cozy on and great views of Black Mountains and our 3 horses!

Can I bring my own pets?

Yes

Paradise in the Mountains!

This is probably the most beautiful, peaceful, house sit we have ever done, and we've done a lot! Gorgeous views just about everywhere you look. This is a beautifully landscaped resort like home. Wonderful views overlooking a pasture with the Black Mountains as a backdrop. We enjoyed the horses' and chickens' feeding routines at the stables, corral, and hen house across the pasture. They were easily cared for twice daily in only 20 minutes. The facilities are first rate. The dogs and cat are quiet, very friendly, and easily cared for as well at the house. The hosts are excellent people, friendly, helpful, pleasant and fun to be around. A wonderful hiking trail, encompassing the 50+ acres of gated property, meanders through fields and forests. The gentlemen, who come weekly to work the property, are friendly and helpful as are the neighbors nearby. We highly recommend this house sit!
