The cats needs to be indoors at night (preferable)
We are looking for a house sitter to care for our two cats, Lizzy and Ranonkel, five chickens, and a few vegetables in a greenhouse. If you love the countryside, enjoy tending to a large garden, and appreciate the charm of a big old house with a piano, this opportunity is perfect for you. Our home is conveniently located just 30 minutes by bus from Groningen
You care for five chickens and two cats daily. The chickens require fresh water and grain each morning, and must be secured in the shed at dusk. The cats need two scheduled meals throughout the day. Additionally, the greenhouse vegetables require regular watering. On Saturday, you can fetch a bag of fresh vegetables from a farm close by.
We have a spacious garden in a peaceful village, with a bus stop nearby offering service every 30 minutes. The nearest shop is 3 km away. During your stay, you will have the place to yourself, but you are welcome to arrive earlier or extend your stay if needed. For transportation, bikes are available in addition to public transport.
Please note that the nearest grocery store is 3 km away, so you'll need to be comfortable riding a bike or taking the bus for shopping if you do not have a car. The bus stop is close by, and every 30 minutes you get on the bus. Bicycles are available for your use on-site. If you arrive by car or camper, there is ample space on the property for parking.
Yes
Restrictions: As long as the pet loves cats or chickens
Testimonials
Lovely cat and chickens in a beautiful house in the nice village of Garrelsweer
It was a perfect housesit in a beautiful old house with a nice natural garden, where I could relax and watch the cheerful chickens. The cat Isis followed me around, we spent the evenings together in front of the cosy oven and in the nights she warmed my feet. Garrelsweer is a pretty village, situated along a canal. I went for extendet bike tours and visited the nice villages and natural beauties. The public bus to Groningen is very close. When I arrived, Fenna and Bart picked me up in Groningen. On the way home, they went to buy salted hering for me, a speciality in the Netherlands, and I enjoyed a delicious meal. Oral and written instructions were given and my questions during the stay were answered within a short time. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Garrelsweerand, I am grateful for the trust I was given. Thank you Fenna and Bart!
